I have one of those ebay slim balast HID kit + 2 relay harnesses but the bulbs do not always fire up when I first start the car with the light switch in the Auto position. It's not a problem if it's in the Off position and then I turn it to Auto after the car had started up. It's a pretty old issue and has been talked about long ago. So I'm trying to find out whether you guys who have the Auto function and DDM HID kit have the same problem or not. If it's not a problem with their kit then I might just buy it and replace the one I have now 'cause it's bugging me every time I start the car at night.

So the poll is only for people with DDM HID kit AND with Auto headlight.

To be honest I never use the Auto On feature. I always turn my lights off and turn them on manually when I need them. However, the eBay kit I have (chinese not slim ballasts) does not have this issue. The problem is the current draw. There is not enough power to turn it on when the car starts because of drain from everything else (IE: Starter, Heater Controls/AC if on, Other lights, Fan, Etc). You could upgrade the wiring and your battery or get a different set of HID ballasts.

Some people have the issue and some don't.

I have the DDM Slim Ballast kit in my heads right now with the auto feature on, no problem with the lights coming on. For some reason though my check engine light came on after the install but I haven't seen any problems with my coupe, so I figure the car just doesn't recognize the new headlight setup.

a relay harness for your hid kit should eliminate your problem.

i have ddm slim with no problem using auto on. i've had 1 misfire like 2 days after installation, nothing since

I do have a relay harness, 2 relay harnesses in fact. I installed 1 for both sides and most of the time the driver's side would light up, but not the passenger side. I bought another relay harness so each side has its own dedicated relay wire, but that didn't solve the problem.
