For your viewing pleasure here's a build thread on Barney Brown's 1970 Datsun 521 Gasser truck. Barney is Barry Brown's brother. The plan is to blow the doors off Barry's 620 Gasser (1979-datsun-620-gasser-by-riter-restora ... 84741.html) at NYIRP (New York International Race Park)...or so he hopes.
Specs:
-Chevy 350 pushing 400HP built by Ohio George himself!!!
-Quick Change Rear End
-Cab has been stretched 6 inches in length.
I'll let the pics do the talking.

I like the project.
Would it have been easier to start with a King Cab platform to get the required driver and engine setback?
I was looking at doing this but decided to keep it 4 cyl to keep the weight down on the front without changing the wheel base.
Other way I looked at it to get the setback for the weight transfer was to extend the wheel base ahead of the firewall and use glass fenders and hood which are still available in stock length and could be extended.
