Anyone else notice that if you leave your car out in the sun (in my case, parking lot at work), at the end of the day when im driving away. There are a ton of speed bumps around my work, when i go over them that dashboard seems to make a rattling/rubbing sound. By the time i get home, and the dash has cooled off, the sound is gone.

anyone else with a similar problem?

ps. 1st post

I'm bringing my 08 Altima in next week for identical problem. The problem only occurs when the car is parked in the sun. There's no problem in the early morning or at night. It just occured to me that I'll have to visit the dealer in the afternoon to discuss the problem with the service advisor. My appointment is at 8am and they'll think I'm nuts. The sound appears to be comming from behind the center of the dash near the ac vents. If they can diagnose and fix the problem I'll get back to you.

You guy's sure its not coming from the sunglass holder? Lol

For a couple days I heard some rattling in my car too, but then I realized it was coming from my sunglass holder. I guess it was rattling my sunglasses

I have the same problem. It was really bad last week when it was over 100 degrees everyday. I pulled the vents out yesterday and drove around a bit and it was quiet. However, that could have been because I had just driven it a few hours earlier. Before I put them back in, I applied some silicone lubricant that can be used on plastic and vinyl.

Remember that if you pull the vents out and unplug the airbag light, you will need to reset the light or else the SRS warning light will flash continuously the next time you drive. The procedure is in a sticky.

I had the dealership look at this about 3 weeks after I got the car. They told me that they ordered a part and adjusted for a better fitment, but didn't tell me exactly what part it was. They 'couldn't duplicate' the other rattles in the cabin (speaker grille, door panel, etc.)

I'll let you all know if it is any better when I leave work today.

heat causes things to expand, so i wouldnt be surprised if its just how the interior is installed.

maybe they forgot to leave a space for expansion and one part expands and rubs against another.

if its not fixible, it wont drive me crazy.....here in canada it isnt super hot too much in the year

but i'd appreciate the updates on how your attempts to fix the problem go.

I think the silicone helped some. It still rattles a little, but not as bad. Most of the rattling seems to be coming from where the vent trim meets the head unit trim.

i also thought the same thing and then my friend realized it was sunglasses rattling in the overhead sunglass holder.

My doors rattle like CRAZY - it's making me nuts. I've been thinking about taking the car to a stereo shop and having them sound dampen the door panels. Any thoughts on whether this will do the trick?

My driver door used to rattle close to where the door latches, and i put some sound damper on there and it helped but it didnt get rid of it completely. I wouldnt take it to a shop tho. Save yourself some money and DIY. Its really easy and theres a write-up for it already.

As far as the dash rattling goes, i thought mine was doing it for the longest time too until i realized the culprit was my 3rd brake light on my back window.

I looked around for a DIY, but I only saw one for removing the door panels - it didn't cover actually installing the dampening material. Is there a full step by step writeup out there you can point me to?

Its pretty simple... Cut, peel and stick....lol

Heres the link for the door panel removal:http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=363334

Just be careful when taking the door panels off as the inside door handle and cables are still connected by 3 phillips head screws to the door panel.

This link is for installing sound damper in the rest of the car:http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=363329

And if you happen to order your damper material from B-quiet use the coupon code CCA at checkout to get 10% off on your purchase.

Thanks - I didn't realize it was just peel and stick . About how much material would I need to do both coupe doors? Once you release the panel from the door, do you just unscrew those three screws holding the cables on?

Yes just unscrew the door hadle from the panel you take off.. You can set the panel aside but the cables will just hang from the door. You wouldn't need much if your just doing the doors, but if I were you i'd just do the whole car while your at it

I finished up putting B-Quiet Ultimate in my doors and put the leftovers in a few strategic places on and around the 3-vent area in the dash. The doors weren't too bad. They've come a long way in door panel technology since my 82 Z28. I was dreading doing this because that car is such a PITA, but it was actually pretty easy. And nothing broke!

Yesterday it was close to 100 degrees here and the dash was almost perfectly quiet. The only problem I had with the doors before the B-Quiet was that the little trim pieces behind the handle that cover the screw would rattle because of the speakers. I just stuck a little piece of material on the back of each of those. Now they are quiet as well, and the doors have that nice solid thud when they close.

Sorry, but I didn't take pics of the material I put in dash because I wasn't sure it would work. I don't want to take it back out now because it fits in there TIGHT.

Good luck!
