Hey guys, I am rebuilding my transmission for my z32 300zx. I was removing the slide ball bearing which is seated in the bell housing, when the back recessed part partially chipped out. I beleive this bearing holds the striking rod, so it shouldn't be under any significant stress. I think it should be okay how it is. I am debating JB welding it back in, but I am thinking that might be more of a potential hazzard than leaving it out. Checkout these pics and let me know what you guys think.

I wouldn't bother putting it back on, having any of that come off and breaking something inside would suck. If you're doing all the bearings and synchros you might want to look into getting yourself a solid bell housing to complete the job with confidence. All that hard work, you'd want it nice. If sourcing a replacement is out of reach, it does appear that you're in the clear with just putting it back together as is. Is the remaining portion of the lip on there pretty solid? Worst case to consider then might be that remaining bit of lip breaking off and falling inside while the bearing is no longer held back from that direction.
