Hey what do you guys think of this rip off or good choice?? I can see how it would be good when using the sleepy JDM look on your 240sx or when its daytime.

It's a cool idea and it looks cool, but it's pretty pricey for very little if any improvement. Granted it may get some cool air to your intake, but unless you've bought everything else out there for your car, I wouldn't rush out and get it. I haven't gotten it - I was looking at one that was on ebay, but it nearly made it to $100.

I'm saying there's other things I'd spend my money on first, but I'll probably end up getting one eventually, when I'm ready to get a spoiler painted too.

Making one would be fairly easy depending on your skill in body work. First thing is finding a cover in your local junk yard (when experimenting with destruction don't destroy your original parts). Then you drill out and cut the slot. Hammer and shape the intake part. Basic tools are a ball peen hammer and anvil (block of wood and steel pipe can be used for shaping). Sand and smooth with body filler. Prime and paint.

BTW for removing the headlight lid pull the screws on the sides that hold the plastic headlight frame on that will expose the screws that hold the lid on.

wouldnt it be easier to mold one out of fiberglass? just form it over the original cover then u can experiment with the fiberglass.

You can just make 4 little brackets and raise the headlight cover about an inch. Remove a piece of the hood liner too. It would have a sleepy eye kinda look and let more air in. I thought about doing it but I didn't cause sleepy eyes look pretty gay.

I made one for my S13. Pretty easy really. Just cut the sides and top with a jigsaw but leave the front attached, bend it down and then use filler to make the sides up. It took me about a day or so including spraying it with cans. Be careful where you position the vent though, there are braces that are part of the headlight assembly that get in the way if you dont get it right.

hey SteveC UKSX, im on an incredible budget, and i was wondering if this is something simple enough that i can do it with my existing set, or should i buy one from the junkyard? my car is down for a week cause of transmission problems. it would really help if i could use my existing ones.

If you are handy with a jigsaw and some filler then they arent too bad to do. Like I say above, just be very careful about where and how wide you cut the metal. If you get it wrong the metal wont bend down enough because it hits the framework below it.

it doesnt require much money, if youre using your stock covers. you can see clean through to the intake with the hood closed, its really gonna help. i bet the wire mesh is really important, you dont wanna suck anything undesired under there

I always thought it gave a pretty nice look. I just bought injen intake w/ cold air extension and I'm thinking I don't really need this now but part of me wants it anyway...

I did it on my 93 S13. Pulled off existing one and took it to local college and had it plasma cut. The used a $10 fiberglass kit to fill the sides in. The whole project was extremely easy, however..... I didn't think of the headlight braces and made it way to deep. I had to extremely modify my headlight bracket to get it to fit. Moral of the story, easy mod if you take all the time to measure and check before doing final work
