The CVT is a sealed unit and the belt cannot be replaced. I have not seen any published figures for CVT durability, but many suggest it will have fewer problems than conventional automatic transmissions due to fewer moving parts. You only have to look to the Murano for evidence though....
Early 2003 Nissan Murano's had a few issues with CVT transmission failure, but the design has been since revised and it seems few issues have arised since. Browse the Murano secion of the forums for more info.
BTW, the fluid does not require replacement either. The fluid is specifically engineered for the CVT and cannot be changed with any other type of transmission fluid. If replacement fluid is needed, it can only be obtained from Nissan.
