the new one is offset a bit, this way I could add the stock ignitor risers and the other 3 are centered over the coil packs.

I made a couple more tonight. I will be setting things up with AZhitman shortly so I can sell these things off. Like I said before I will make whatever someone wants. Prices will be as follows for regular 20 gauge steel ones:

plain cover $70 bucks

dimple die, step die, and bead rolls $75 bucks

louvers will be $85 bucks due to the extra time needed to lay them out and punch them

Buyer will also have to cover the cost of shipping from me to them.

Here some more pics from tonight.

Thanks guys.

can you flip the louvered one over and take a pic for me? also the ones with the slots cut in them. is it possible to make that oval stepdown bend without the slots? so it'd look more like the stock cover? also any way to do any custom one similar to this?

and this was kind of what i was thinking when i was talking about the step down.

oh...and just an idea...not sure if you can do it or not. but the screw holes. would you be able to countersink them so the alen screws would go in flush? this would give a clean look and also help to raise the cover up a little bit to sit more where the stock one does instead of sunk down low.

just suggestions. these are great covers just as they are.

good call man, the ones you should i can make a prototype of. should work fine, And I will post a flipped louver picture. I agree i want to counter sink them too, I wanted to do a tapered head screw but the problem is finding a stainless bolt. All i can find locally is allenhead. Stainless has limited selection.

i hate to be a pain but could you turn the louvered one around so the louvers are facing towards the back and not the front? but still down. i'm just anal about my engine bay. you'll understand when you see a picture! LOL

Cover update, I got a bunch of small pieces of aluminum and made a couple new ones. The first one is just a blank cover and I weighed it......1.2 oz less than stock! The other new one is something I like to call swiss cheese! haha I did not weigh the swiss one but it is obviously less than the blank one. As stated before I will make a custom one off cover for anyone that wants (A few have gone out already that nobody has seen pics of ;) ) And I have a bunch of the prototype covers still available. I am keeping the aluminum covers fairly simple for now as I am out of aluminum tig rod and the material I have right now is slightly thick, I have not tried louvers or dimples in it yet either. On with the pictures!

i bought some titanium today :chuckle: Hopefully tonight I will make a new ti cover and have some pics up! I got nit bad pricing on it too! I found a place that isn't buying anymore and is selling their stock. Its selling for around 26 bucks per lb. So not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. Anyway....update will be soon, I am gonna make a louvered one.

Here is a small sample piece. Ti is a pain to work with. The louvers don't work very well as the ti wants to crack instead of stretching and forming to the shape of the louver. The bead rolls work well and I think the dimples will work good. I am still gonna make a cover with it tonight, stay tuned.

its official, working with ti sucks my a**. Looks like only simple covers will be able to be made in ti. Tonight's first attempt is a fail in my eyes, i could probably salvage it but it sure is harder to "manipulate" titanium. Once it looses its shape, it is extremely hard to get it back. I am thinking I can still make some in ti but they will have to be simple one's like blank covers, regular holes drilled (even dimples made it loose shape) maybe simple bead rolls. The one I made tonight I put 3 rows of bead rolls in and it made the cover bend up in a "U" shape, and I had a hard time hammering it back to even close to flat! Either way, I will make one more attempt with my last piece and see how it goes. Wish me luck! haha

Ti has an amazing 'memory' as well. I'm used to seeing it stamped or milled. What type did you pick up?

Also, your Ti pics are not showing up 'Image moved or renamed'. ;)

Titanium update, I made a nice simple cover. I think I got excited and got carried away on the first attempt. This one is nice, simple and would look good on any rb, IMO. Anyway here are some pics. Also I will post a pic of the remaining "prototype" covers I have. I would like to get rid of them as I have no use for them! so shoot me a pm. Also I have talked with Greg (AZhitman) and we are going to setup a contest in the short future. The smooth RB26 style cover I made will be "donated" to the winner of a "tech week" article that me and Greg will judge. So start taking pics of your installs and do a write up. i hope this will help out the followers of the board by showing people how they do things and spread the knowledge so we all can learn, some knowledge you may take for granted might make someone else's life a whole lot easier! On with the pics. here is the latest ti cover.

thanks again ALL for the support.
