Two items you should consider based on my research over the past year.
1. After market cruise control (CC) for the Versa (V) is not a straight forward process. I have contacted both manufacturers and installation shops with the following results. I live in the Dallas, Texas area and almost noone will put CC by any company into my V. Comments included I keep getting the car back because of operation complaints, Nissans are too hard to modify due to the way Nissan wired its vehicles, some CC units are mechanically connected to to a modified lever on the throttle body, I don't do that type work any more, I won't install that product, or the installer wouldn't return my calls. I was only able to actually talk to 2 of 8 dealers listed by e-mail or phone from the manufacturer. Just one said he would actually install a CC for me, but he had closed his business and was operating from his van as a mobile service technician. The kicker is that WEB advertisers only sell the CC units, they don't install. One needs to be very motivated to take on CC installation. I am pretty savvy on mechanical and electrical things, but I consider the risk involved with putting CC on the wife's V a little greater than I care to take on.
I talked to the WEB sales person at Courtesy Nissan in Richardson, Texas in person about buying the components and swapping out with the installed Versa S hardware. Basically everything is already built into the car. A few items must be added and a couple must be replaced to make CC work in th 2007 Versa S Hatchback. Controls, some wires, and switches are added and 2 computer boxes are replaced. The removed boxes aren't kept by the dealer meaning you have to purchese the boxes. He said cost of conversion would be at least $1,500 for the parts, mostly for the computers.
I have given up on CC. For anyone planning to follow through, be sure to get references from any installer specifically for a Versa CC installation he has done.
Good luck.
