Have a 96 Q45, love it , trying to attend to one thing at a time now up to the cruise control, not sure where to start the trouble shooting process pls help someone.
Yup, same thing happened to mine. I actually found the issue so quick by googling the question which lead me to a thread on here years ago lol. I came home one day, my brake lights were ON. Thought someone had cut my brake line lol.VStar650CL wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 6:00 amThe most obvious thing to check is the brake switch (and clutch interlock if it has one). The brake switch for the CC is usually separate from the brake lamp switch on Nissan products, and most of the older ones have a "rubber stopper" in the pedal bracket that can wear out and fall out. With nothing to stop the switch plunger, the CC will never come on because it thinks the brake is pressed all the time. Same for the CC clutch interlock if it's a M/T.
Very common on older models. For budget customers, I fix them using a large size Nissan push-clip with a dab of gray death underneath to cushion and hold it (genuine Nissan death, but you folks can use Permatex Ultra Gray, it's the same stuff).98_Q45 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 9:08 pmTurned out to be the rubber stopper broke (I was messing with the parking brake while doing some radio work). A month or so later, the cruise control stopper broke. Stupid simple fixes. But dealer only part. You can temporarily fix by using duct or electrical tape in the hole where the stopper normally would be.
It’s just crazy though. Like I always say around here, I have a 97 maxima which has even more miles than the Q, and those little “small” issues haven’t cropped up.VStar650CL wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 9:21 pmVery common on older models. you mean the master switch on the left side under the hvac vent? That's probably the easiest area to get to (compared say to the rear window defroster switch on the right side).
