This is a little off topic, but maybe someone can help me out.

Im trying to burn an MP3 disk for my Rogue. The problem is that all of my music on my computer is saved through Itunes and im having problems getting it onto disk. Something seems to not be compatible as the files are not stores in MP3 format??? I thought the Ipod was an MP3 player?

Does anyone here know what i have to do to be able to create and MP3 disk that will work in my Rogue?

Access the HELP menu in iTunes first. Everything you need to know about iTunes is in there. Songs not in mp3 format will not be burned to the disc. You need to convert them first. Help Menu 1st 2nd

Ok, a couple different things could be happening here, so I'll just run through everything and hopefully it applies to you

First off, yes, the iPod is an MP3 player in that it can play MP3 files. It also plays a format called AAC, which is technically a better format than MP3 is, but not as widely supported. I don't think the Rogue supports AAC, but I haven't checked.

If you ripped those songs from a CD yourself using iTunes, the default format that it rips into is AAC, not MP3. You can change this using the iTunes preferences. It's in the advanced tab under the importing section I believe. I don't have iTunes in front of me.

If you're trying to burn songs you bought from the iTunes store that weren't iTunes Plus songs, then you're out of luck. Most songs purchased from the iTunes store are protected by DRM, preventing you from playing them on unauthorized players, so you can't just burn them to a CD and have the rogue play them back. These songs have a .m4p extension. Unprotected songs have an m4a extension. There are ways of unprotecting a m4p file so you can do stuff with it, but you'll have to find that out from somebody else.

If you've got a bunch of m4a files, you can get a converter that will flip them over to mp3, although you'll lose some sound quality in process due to the nature of the conversion. Some people notice, some people don't. Just do a google search for "aac to mp3 conversion" and you should get a bunch of results.

Maybe a dumb answer, but why not just plug the IPOD into the stero aux jack and play them that way.

I convert all my music into mp3 formate, then use Nero to burn them in mp3 formate in CD not DVD disc.

I used to have an Ipod, but i lost it. But i still load all my music onto my computer.

I have figured out how to convert the songs in itunes into MP3 format via itunes, and all works well inside the car.

The problem i am having now is that i cant seem to seperate the music into diffrent folders. All the songs go into one folder, and this gets messy fast. I have tried burning the converted files in seperate folders in windows, but for some reason the car will not recognise these files, even though they are the same converted files... so better off than before, but still stuck trying to get it right.

When you burn a CD, just make sure that you are burning it as a data cd. If you specify audio cd, it will do some funky conversions and will not work.

Try that and see what happens.

^^^ You sir get a cookie. This worked decently. In the Roge all the tracks on the cd are still listed continuously, in exaple, if your CD is in slot 3, and you have two folders.. the first with 10 tracks, and the second with say 9 tracks... the 3rd track in the second folder will still come up 3-13 ... so it kinda stink as far as being used to how the tracks are numbered on the audio CD.

But at least now if im on track one of the first folder, and i hit the next folder button it jumps to the next folder (which would read 3-11 in my example above)so i can flip through albums quickly
