The New wheels were loud. They begged for attention. They didnt match the car. But hey... its a 240. Why not.

They were 17x9 1/2 12 offset all around. I really liked their specs.

Alignment at tire kingdom. Our local tk is where we pass alot of time at. Drink after hours. The usual. And here's my friend Chris... the inside of my wheel tub was rubbing my tires. We banged it in some.

"Took a trip to enjuku" nice man. That means you live in west Orlando like me. You gotta come out to some of the meets we have. We usually have one every monday at the buffalo wild wings on highway 27 in the same parking lot as epic movie theater. We had upwards of 150 cars last week. Alot of the guys from enjuku come out. Brett is usually there every week and Idr his name but the guy with the pulsar came out before as well. Its pretty sick not a whole lot of them honda boys either haha

Yeah ive met brett. His 180sx is the most beautiful thing on wheel's ive ever seen.
I wish i had the money to do a full on restoration like he did. And yah, i know the guy with the pulsar. Ive never been out there to that meet. Only the sonics meet on international before it died out. On my side of town it got kinda dead. Also, alot of honda boys started getting 240's around my area. So i just took my car off the road completely i dont plan on driving it for a long time. Maybe a weekend warrior one day. For now just jack stands haha.

Okay, So the second time around sucked. sanding this time wasnt as easy. Since there was previously green on there it took for ever. But i got it all done. Just took a while. And then i wrapped the car in a condom. Over spray is the devil.

This time i had help spraying. I wasn't using single stage anymore and its not as forgiving if you mess up.

In the mix of all this I also got my turbo back from Turbo Bay. He does awesome work!

I took the chance to also install rocker arm stoppers at this time. I hear their a must for sr's. I dont want to find out otherwise. lol
Image
While having the motor out again i took the chance to look at the manifold and clean it of gunk. Also resprayed it so its nice and clean !
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Also... i never liked my heater hoses behind the head. It was annoying. Especially when i had to go find all these weird hoses to route it back to my heater core the first time. So i went with an s14 water neck. S14 turbo lines. I cut the line and welded the end back on. Made it like a KA.

Sorry guys , been a bit busy. Its been a lazy sunday and im home early. Lets Continue...
So next after all this i decided to work under the car because aside from the coils ive left the suspension for the most part untouched. I wanted more track up front. Im still not sure why but i got the s14 lowers for free. Why not. lol.
New s14 lower ball joints and lca bushings.
Image
Image
Im running s14 ball joints because im using a s14 spindle. Also free.
the only reason behind using them was because of the bearing. They felt better than mines.
Image

Pb blaster is great for burning out bushings. Also worst thing to use because its so expensive ! lol.

I was actually very happy that it didnt touch my rad support or frame. Im VERY picky about body work. I might have parted the car out. But it was fine. Finding a new pignose is only hard part. My friend already had a spare headlight assembly sitting in the garage. That worked out great!. I had to daily the car around for a weak until it was appraised.
Image
Im not going to say any numbers but when i went i was in for a surprise. I brought a invoice from Nissan with me. There is no way im going to get chump'd for my car. My invoice included front bumper and spoiler (lip) , hood, fender, brackets, front foam support and bumper support. I know i didnt need some parts but the numbers were large. He couldnt find any of these parts as a replacement anywhere so he used my numbers for what he thought was needed. Also got more hours labor because their painter couldnt match my paint. he said it was custom :). and labor hours were kinda long. Go figure... 1990 240sx gets more back then a 2014 corolla.

I ripped the bumper off as soon as i could after it got appraised. Id rather ride on front mount and look like your usual 240 than one F'd up one! Took all the parts off my front bumper. Brackets, lights, and the little grill's that pignose's have. I only wanted another pig nose!. It was a little sad when i took mines and threw it in the trash. :/. I was sad. lol. Thats one less oem pignose bumper on the field. ;'-(

Been busy doing a whole lot of nothing lol. But tonight i have sometime before i go to sleep. You guy's are more or less caught up with where im at. After the car had gotten hit i really didnt even look at it for a while. I let it sit for a while. Lost alot of motivation and then i grew bored and realized that it was my hobby lol. So here are more pics. This is what i got into shortly after it was hit.
Image
I sold these. Not really sure why cause i liked them but car was due for change.
Then i pulled the car out for a wash. It got very dusty and ugly sitting around.
Image
Image
I ordered another pig nose front bumper. It wasnt oem but for 100 dollars i couldnt say no. I hate that it didnt say Nissan on it. And the poly was rather thick so fitting it seemed like a pita.
Image
But to hell with that bumper because i ruined it. Lol. I accidentally cut the center support while cutting it for intercooler. It wasnt that bad but i like to sleep at night. So its just sitting there now. But no worries because i found a nice oem one already lol.
Image
Image
Work is never ending in my garage. There are mini projects all over the place.
Image
Bought some goodie's again. More suspension and handling parts. Like i said , i hadnt done enough down there yet. Also boost/temp gauge and a awesome gauge pod.
Image

And of course a cold beer to help get things going.

I started by pulling the sub frame out. Fairly easy job with a jack.
I stripped the sub frame down completely shortly after. My axles looked horrible but they didnt click so i may just re use them till they do. If its not broke dont fix it , right? Wrong. Ill change those too. lol. Anyways, Bushings bushings bushings... I started with those first. Mainly the sub frame. PB blaster makes the perfect thing to use to keep them burning. Rather expensive how ever. I went through 3 cans doing all this.
Image
Image
After burning the bushings out there is an outer race on all 4 bushings that you have to punch out. And for those of you that have done this you know how much of a pain in the A this is. LOL. Well funny story. I was having trouble with my air hammer at work, so i used a regular old fashioned punch and hammer. I was trying to make a slit in it. Well, on one of these hits i F'd up big time. I hit this punch and it slipped off the surface of the outer race and like a BULLET! This thing shot me in the leg. I lost a good deal of blood.
Image
Might not seem like much but it went in rather deep. Not to many people can say they have taken a punch to the shin... WELL I CAN! lol.
Image
Well anyways im not a baby so i sprayed it with brakes parts cleaner and went about my business. JK i washed it. So then i said F all that punch business.... Thats for the birds. I got my air hammer problems under control and put the punch fitting on there and went to town.
Image
Image
Sawzall helps. Use it to make a slit and then bang away. The slit helps relieve tension on the outer race.
Image
Image
Lighting it on fire was easily the funnest part about the whole thing.
Image
Image
Image
Finally... all 4 out.
Image
I went with solid for the subframe because.. i dont know why actually.
OH! btw, installing these also sucked. These hardly even fit in there. I had to grind the edges down. After making them kinda tapered on the ends it was alot easier to drive in. I used a hammer and big socket. Bang away.

A while back i got a free s14 from a friend on mines. Long story short he bought a bigger project than he could handle so i got the car for free. Well, in the back seats of this s14 that i parted out was a box of energy bushings for a s13. ALL there. ALL new. I said F yes. And well now they serve a purpose.
Rear, spindle bushings here i come. I really honestly didnt even know those bushings were there before looking at them. Well let me tell you... These things were not fun to replace. Alot like the sub frame... But now theres MINI RACES lol. Not to mention, the spindle is in a weird angle no matter how you position it onto the floor or where ever.
Image
Image
Image

As you can tell from this outer race. I won this battle. lol.

The rear lower control arms had their turn also. Same deal with these. Except these had to be placed on a vice.

This is the kinda slit youre aiming for. Itll fall right out if you can get it just right.

Sorry ive been pretty busy with life and what not. Got some time to spare again. Hope you guys are enjoying the thread. Any kind of criticism is always constructive. So please do and tell me what you guys think. Or maybe what i should have done with my set up. Thanks.
Image
These spindle bushings were a pain to install. I found the 2 and 1/2 inch circle that i cut out of my fire wall for the clutch pedal and used it as a washer lol. Along with a big random bolt and nut. This helped me push the bushings through.
Image
As for the rear lowers ... there is no way to do this with out a vise. Its just way to weird to hold. This was a rather quick and easy way to push them through.
Image
AND here's my biggest decision yet. My differential was still OPEN!. It really sucked. But when i bought this car i wanted to build a daily. So welded or vlsd from a j30? IDK. Well see. I dont really slide my car often enough to have a welded but when i do slide i want it to. lol Either way... open isnt going back in.

After a long week of work the weekend finally came. Time to install this subframe. I know it would be easier to install all the parts on the subframe while its out but when youre doing this alone... id rather not. lol

Getting creative is the only way to get things done alone.

At last some arms!... i can finally straighten out that camber and have a full contact patch!...
