If your such a great driver why, when you got rear-ended, did you hit the car in front of you? Too close maybe? I am always at least 15 feet from the car in front of me until about 5 cars get behind me that are stopped, that way if someone rear ends me i don't crash the front of my car.

Get hit by a drunk woman, that doesnt even hit the brakes from a 60 mph impact. U could be 30 feet behind the car in front of you and the impact still would have pushed you into the car in front of you.

Technically, the closer you are to the car in front of you the less damage would be done. Seeing that, if you arent on the brakes, your car will pick up speed and make the impact worse. If you are closer, then the car in front of you will stop and slow u down.

I don't why you guys want to defend him, when you rear end someone you're too close and can't react, go to any training class and they will tell you 3-sec rule, if you're at speed it can be even worst. Image if he was driving a semi and he said I didn't see her. When you're driving you better be paying attention. And before you go there, we're not talking about racing on a track going 180+. So if you're telling this guy to STFU then you must be a tail gating speeder yourself. Don't make excuses for him, oh too bad about the car, buy a rhd front clip and call it a day.

Yeah I'm with Master Kal here, you made a mistake, but you can move on. As far as that being a street car, no way. I don't have to see the frame or crossmember and mounting points to know that thing will never drive straight at price worth fixing. Unless your welding skill are good, and have the space, and get a front clip at a great price, but even then I don't know.

But good luck bro, hope it all works out and you don't get sued to the point where noone will insure you again.

Sure I drive aggressively, but that doesn't mean I tailgate... You'd be a liar and a hypocrit to say that you haven't driven over the speed limit or followed to close at one time in your life. I don't know whether the kid was tailgating or not and I'm not making excuses for him. I was simply telling him to shut up about rubbing it into the dudes face. He's already wrecked his car, he doesn't need to hear it from someone on the forum, he made a mistake, he knows that and has paid for it. Get off your horse...

jr ss - You make the HUGE mistake that a lot of people do. You are trying to "call out" Kaleo for being a hypocrite.Did he EVER say that he never drove too fast or tailgated?

No, he didn't.

It is VERY poor to come back in an argument and say something like that. If you want to have a good argument, you need to pay attention to what is being said. Don't put words in other people's mouths.

A fellow 240 owner's car is destroyed. And all you egotistical jerks can do is throw ***** fits in each others directions. Imagine how horrible you would feel if you just crashed YOUR car, the car you yourself most likely put many hours of work into? He probably feels like crap but all anyone on these forums can do is put him down further for something all of you know nothing about because none of us were there.

Alas, I sympathize with your situation, and I hope your new car hunt goes well. I'll be smoking a bowl in your 240's memory tonight.

As for everyone else on this forum... I suggest you smoke a bowl and relax also.

LMAO @ "just puttin that out there" Good Stuff haha

Hey OP, You made a mistake, you even admitted to it. In no way shape, or form do i see you asking for people to feel sorry for you let alone do you seem to be effected by the negative feed back. Some of it is tough love the rest is just talk. Stay focused and be yourself and learn from your mistakes. This does not make you an "idiot" per say, but it was a stupid mistake . No worries though stay focused and do your thing bro.

The OP is not asking for prayers or sympathy, hes just sharing with us his mistake and the result of the mistake. Remember we are all the same, creatures of habit and far from being the "perfect being". This thread can take a big respectable turn for the better.

Keep us updated OP and don't forget pictures

One Love,

Ghasty

Sorry to hear you wrecked your car we all learn from our mistakes , the ones that don't end up dead or in jail . do you have full cover insurance if you do totall it out buy it back and sell the parts to buy another 240 . If you don't then sell the parts to buy another 240 240s here in Springfield are getting scarce . one junk yard crushed 4 240s with some decent parts on them because scrap metal was up to 270 a ton man i was pi$$ed ..

We need not take over his thread with our own bickering over whos right and whos wrong .

Thanks for a little support, I thought I might be the only half decent driver in here...Glad to hear someone else has a clue.

BTW: You used to bring that s14 out to the IKEA meets didnt you? I have the red widebody s13, came out there a few times last summer. I love your car, very clean.

Hey you know I wasn't trying to bag on the OP, I was more PO'ed at other posters that were like "oh you poor thing". I've been rear ended twice and each time it was by persons that were NOT paying attention and each time I saw it coming in my rear view mirror. And yeah I know what it means to have the car you worked on and spent money on get Ef'ed up by a tailgater. If you rear ended me now I'd probably have to kill you... JK.

Any way, the OP's car looks like toast, dunno if it's really worth salvaging if the strut tower is collapsed tha mean the frame is goners too, probably goes beyond that point too, car aint gonna be right no matter what. A good JDM front clip gonna run you as much as a new/used 240 and then unless you got the capability to do it yourself, ouch! big bucks .

Oh yeah Philly, Tri-State Nissan ROCK!

Had a great Ikea meet this past Sunday, will post pics later...

SO, if it was my grandmother you hit then it would still be cool, right? Don't think so, u didnt choose who that person was, what if it was your grandmother???? I feel bad for her because she was minding her own business and would have gotten home to her family if it wasnt for you. So, still feel sorry for the other person, regardless who it may have been, U never know, the person u hit may be someone u know or is close to you.

The fact that she had warrants doesnt make your case. It bothers me that you are pissed that u hit someone and show no remorse, sorry about your car, but, it was your fault.

NEVER said it wasnt my fault. matter of fact thats the first thing i said. Thats why i carry insurance for ACCIDENTS didnt run over her on purpose. S**t happens. The only reason i started this post was to start the process of finding parts to put my car back togather. Mybe i can Maybe i cant either way i screwed up and now i have no car. BTW i have never until now had a wreck where i was totaly at fault. Rain dusk cell phone ringing all dosent matter i hit her... the end. my insurance which i might add i have carried for 20+ years will fix whatever damage is done to her car. as for sue me i guess anyone can sue but i live in a no-fault state which means she should have insurance too. and your Grandmother would get her car fixed too!!!

Your car is totaled. Don't bother fixing it. It should be flagged now for a salvage title and if you fix it, it still will be worthless.

If you fixed it, it would cost quite a bit more to fix it than the hulk is worth.

Take your insurance payoff and be done with it. Buy it back and part it out and sell the rest to the scrap yard if you have any decent parts.

Don't be an idiot and tailgate anymore. I rear-ended a couple of cars when I was young and stupid and learned my lesson. I was just dumb.

You ruined your car because of your lack of paying attention but hopefully you have insurance. I didn't have full coverage when I was a kid so I lost money because my car was totaled.

BH- I wasn't trying to call Kaleo out for anything, although I will agree it seems like it. I was simply stating that everyone has, at some point in their life, driven over the speed limit or followed closer than should... And frankly, I don't care what your opinion is...

Kaleo- The only reason I said, "Get off your horse" is because you came at the OP like the others. I assumed that you were "baggin" on the OP. Im not saying I feel sorry for him, but he definitely doesn't need other forum/enthusiasts' rubbing something he already knows too well in his face... He knows he f*cked up and has to live/deal with it on his own.

I have no problems with either of you and haven't, so lets keep it that way...
