crankshaft bolt

sorry guys miss worded my post.what i meant to ask was about the bolt in the crankshaft to get the damper off.the manual says to take a pry bar and hold the flywheel.i have had no success at this.is there a way to make a bar or something to hold it?also is it right hand threaded?thanks for any advice

an impact wrench is sometimes the only way to get those things off.

yeah go get an impact wrench, it makes things MUCH MUCH easier. if you have a compressor already, you can "borrow" one from autozone. but really it's cheap to buy one at like Harbor freight.

Remember to replace your seals while you have things apart. There's nothing more disheartening than to find you've got a leak when you get it back together. On engines this old it's almost required.
