take your ratchet put a big hollow steel bar on it or a breaker bar if you have one take a towel and put it under the breaker bar to save your body/paint

crank your car with the starter (just a litlle) and voila

PS: i have some trouble to explain in english .. anyway i think you will understand dont hold it with your hand heh

MAKE SURE it's 5th gear.. The lower gears will not allow enough "engine torque" to be applied on that bolt..

disconnect something to be sure the motor has no chance of firing up. I always use the starter trick and one time the damned motor started! I invented the breaker bar catapult, that thing must have gone twenty feet across the shop

With the motor out of the car? Hells no... impact is the only way.

You could attach the statrter motor manually to 12 Volts.

That'll just spin the breaker bar round and round (no frame rail to stop the bar..

Heheh, get that on video

No proble, here's the trick.put a transmission bolt into the appropriate hole in the block by the head.Take a socket and put it's open end down over the teeth of the flywheel's starter ring and rotate the engine so the closed end wedges against the bolt.this will lock the crank in place as you turn the pully bolt. Use a breaker bar with a long pipe on it so you will not have to bounch or perform any jerky motions to loosen it, just steady pressure. You can use the same procedure to tighten the bolt again, just flip sides.

remove sump and usa a piece of wood to stop the crank from turning
