I installed a Crane Fireball on my truck many years ago. The kit did not come with the correct optical rotor for the L20B distributor. I made an 8-cylinder rotor from the kit work by taping off every other window. However, it never really fit correctly. I just did some maintenance to my distributor, and the "temporary" optical rotor got wrecked in the process.

Has anyone here fitted an electronic (non-points) ignition to their L20B? If so, what kind? Does anyone know a source for the correct optical rotor for the L20B? Or a part number, brand...?

Any info is appreciated.

I talked to Crane tech support on the phone this morning. They are sending me an installation kit # 700-2292 that is supposed to have the correct "shutter wheel" for around $35.

I'll let you know if it contains the correct part when it gets here.

The installation kit arrived today. None of the shutter wheels included fit easily. There is one that can be made to work with some modification.

I guess everybody but me is still running points.

Does it use a whole different distributor, or can it be retrofitted to the old one? I have the Crane one working now anyway.
