That's a decent find, Dave. Even with the miles up a little, someone will scoop that up quickly. Definitely helps that he appears to be on top of his maintenance. I think with mine, it was a combination of the gentleman getting older coupled with the fact that it was due for $2000+ in paid maintenance work ona a car he doens't drive - I'll cut that in more than half by doing it myself.
They are scarce around here. Granted, Greencastle, PA isn't exactly a bustling metropolis (Nolimit, figure Katy about 20 years ago, but on its own, if that helps as a reference), but since I caught the bug about a year ago, I've only seen two on the road. One of which was a roughed-up at one of those auction-dealer lots. It actually was the one that stirred up my interest to begin with... then the search began. I tell you what, though - it's pretty cool having a car that no one around here sees.
I have to admit that it seems pretty cool to have a car that really isn't seen in your area. Problem I learned about there however is as a kid who did NOT do well with the Law, they always knew right where to find me since there were no other Kelly Green, 1967 Mustang Fastbacks around my town. I guess I've had that going on a bit throughout my life as I like obscure and hard to find cars, and have had several that have not had many/any others like them around. But I think that the longest I owned a car before my first Nissan Z car was MAYBE 2 years.
BUT, as a kid I drove a '74 260 that was brand new as my first-ever drive (unknown to my relative, the owner...
) around the block and some, and that experience never went away even though I was a die-hard Ford Mustang big block guy and owned two '67 fastbacks growing up. The second was a GTA, pretty complete and with a built 390 and I also found a SB clone of it for my GF at the time that we fixed up.
But as I grew older the lack of true handling (OK, more like LOTS of speeding tickets) in American cars became an issue for me and I decided in early 2000 to go back to Nissan. After a decent Z31 I'd found for cheap was wrecked by a kid and his gramma's SUV in early 2003, I'd seen this '90 NA Z32 at a lot close by and remembering the awesome wraparound interior and the TV ads (Ken/Barbie, racing the jet, etc.) I decided to check it out since it was NA and at the time I did not do turbo, and was totally against it actually. I did some pricing/reliability research and then gave it a drive and that was that- BEST car I'd been in hands down. It had a red interior which at first I was a bit
but then grew on me. I bought it that day and drove it until it died (112K to 234K miles!) in 2009. I was a mobile custom interior carpenter at the time, it was comical watching the other guys as I unloaded the Zcar for work and they watched in envy- no truck for me! I miss the NA though badly, especially the interior, and still am trying to get some of my red interior parts into the mix- my current interior re-do will include more red parts as best possible and tasteful.
So I've been driving a Z32 now for the last 16 years, wow, how time flies by!
