hmm this is tough. i really like the hatch but i am really starting to like the coupe also(only if it has the silvia face). if i was in the market for a car i really would have a hard time deciding which one to get.

I like the coupes, and where I am.. they seem to be relatively rare. I probably see three to four times as many hatchbacks as coupes. When I was searching for my car, I had to pass on a whole bunch of nice hatchbacks before I finally found the coupe that I bought. I think that the glass hatch on the back, and especially the taillights make the HBs look like they have big, fat asses.

HATCHBACK!!!!! the hatchback's curvy design is consistent throughout the entire car where as the coupe has a rough transition once it reaches the rear of the car with that ugly looking square back which is just not good aesthetics i would say. but then again i do have a bias as well.

I like the hatch a little bit better, but i agree that coupes are more rare around here, and thats what i have, so i say coupe.

if i was to buy an s13 i would get a hatch. the coupes look kinda strange in stock-body 240 form, but look better with silvia front end.

I owned a coupe, it was an auto, thats why I sold it. I would take a hatch anyday over a coupe, the car still looks good next to a 350z, like he said the coupe is a little square. more room in the hatch and personally I think the hatch handles better, Ive owned both, thats my opinion. Coupe looks too much like a lude and the hatch looks too much like a probe. Hell what can you do.?

Hatch all the way.

Better stero sound in the hatch also. coupes suck *** for stereos.

THAT is why I am getting a coupe. Formerly Repos and now Dougsters. I think the coupe looks pretty old school.

I hear the hatch backs are more aerodynamic because of the way the window is in the back.

I'd say get a HB they look sooo much better I think the trade mark of an s13 is the blacj mirrors and black trim around the windows and such which the coupes just don't have it looks way to much like an old school integra or old school 2 door accord.

And for the guy that said the HB looks like a probe, how dare you!!!! thats like saying your ferrari looks liek a fiero!!!!!!

I think the coupe looks better when it's fixed up, but the hatch would get more girls than a non-fixed up coupe would. The only thing I could get my hands on was a hatch, so thats what i bought.

If not the same, performance between the coupe and hatch are the close. I have seen in other threads that the coupe is a little lighter and has a more ridged chassis than the hatch and that there is actually more back seat room in the coupe than in the hatch. Other than these I think they are the same. Personally I own a '92 hatch and love it.

ok lets put it this way say you had a choice between a blonde bombshell of a woman(HATCHBACK) and an average looking chick(COUPE), but all your buddies also had blond bombshells for a girlfriend, would you go for the average looking , not up to par chic just because all your buddies had hot A** lookin blonds... Mother F-ing Hell NO!!!!

eh? Coupes are Silvias in Japan. They dont have the flip up headlights the 180s have hence they cant be called one-via. Unless they are talking about our (US) coupes, then yes, they are one-via.

I myself have a coupe and a hatch. Having driven both, I love my coupe better. I closes off the interior nicely instead of the open feeling i get from the hatch. I dont care for the flip up lights much why is the main reason i got my coupe, Silvia front end conversion.

Both look great to me. Both handle/perform so closely to one another that it's not significant. I had bought my hb for the loading flexibility. And I kinda like that more open feeling that Nismo1182 mentioned. That's just personal preference. You can't make a wrong decision here, no matter how you slice it, it;s still a 240

No Silvias are silvias in Japan =) Coupes with fixed headlights. However, when Silvia drifters smashedup their cars they would take the cheaper parts off of a 180sx and put them on their silvia.. creating a US spec style coupe. This was called the One-Via. My least favorite varation of the car.

actually no.

Drifters who smash their cars do not put the 180 front end on their silvia because it is cheaper, they do it because they like the way it looks... if you dont agree with this then tell me how a 180 front end with popup headlights is going to be less expensive than a silvia front end with fixed head lights (no motor, less wiring, more common.... and so on).

Now I can believe the sileighty came to by that line of thought (using the cheaper front end) but the truth is, people would not do it if they didnt like the way it looked.

What about an R32 front end on a hatch.... now theres an idea....:thinker
