They may or may not like it, no way for me to know that. I assume that if they put it on their cars, they like it. I wasnt aware that the Silvia was more common. Sorry, I was speaking of what i was told, not what i have seen (as i am in PA and never been to japan.) I was told that the 180s littered junkyards and getting the frontend parts was easy..

ok lets put it this way say you had a choice between a blonde bombshell of a woman(HATCHBACK) and an average looking chick(COUPE), but all your buddies also had blond bombshells for a girlfriend, would you go for the average looking , not up to par chic just because all your buddies had hot A** lookin blonds... Mother F-ing Hell NO!!!!

Lets re-put it this way. You know your friends have terrible taste, and what they think they have, is not really what they have. So, rather than trying to persuade them that their females are A) common looking and B) over-sold... I'll stick with what I know looks good, and let them start from the disavantageous position of trying to individualize something that's already pretty cookie-cutter and owned by dozens of others. Then again, it's all personal opinion and some people really like what everyone else has... just look at Orange County.

i like the coupes way better (thats why i have a coupe) it took me alot longer to find one but was worth the wait. i still like the hatch but i personally think the coupe looks better, also stiffer and lighter as someone else said. I was gonna get a hatch but only in black but i see them everywhere and i also get the confused with probes and i didnt like that.

Not only are the coupes way better, I'm going to go out on a limb and expose myself to the flames by saying, "The tail-lights look better, in an Acura Integra 92-era sort of way." One of the first things I'm going to get after the engine swap, is some tint on the windows and http://www.clearcorners.com corners for it. Actually, I think my sister owes me a set since I bought her some for her Civic a couple of years ago. =)

edit: After looking more closely at the clearcorners from the above mentioned source, they're not weather sealed and will fog up. I probably won't be buying those.

The HB does have the 180SX, rounded tail-light conversion which does look good. Yet even with that, the back end still looks too fat.

hatch, hands down.. the coupe's rear is a major drawback that thing is hedious.. but all depends on what you like. i chosse the hatch becuase the coupes are driven by 30+ year olds who probably are the first owners.. and the Hatch is rare here plus if u dont have an amp mounted like i do to the back seat you can make a pretty roomy space back there.-edgar

Gunna have to say that I prefer the hatchbacks but some clean, dark colored coupes look really nice aswell. It's all a matter of preference and aslong as you stay with a 240, no worries. :D

the extra weight of the huge back window gives the fastback better weight ditribution (53/47 i think) than the coupe

I always thought that 50/50 was ideal, with mid / rear engine being the best? Is the 53/47 some drifter, light in the rear is better formula?

yes 50/50 is ideal, but the FB's 53/47 is closer to 50/50 than the coupe's 55/45

Oh, the coupe is that far off? In that case, I'm definitely relocating the battery to the trunk. =/

around my area coupes are more rare than fastbacks, the ratio around here is 5 coupes for every 20 fastbacks. i still love both bodystyles but since i have a coupe thats what i love.

i have a fastback but that's not why i like it. i bought the fastback because that's what i liked. kinda the opposite of a lot of people on here...anyway, i like the fastback better because it looks more modern, it has a better weight distribution, better aerodynamic shape (how do you think it got the name "fastback?" the angle of the rear window is low enough so air "sticks" to the surface as it passes over and causes downforce instead of drag like on a coupe with a steep rear window), and more cargo roomone downside is that the open trunk area lets more road noise into the cabin.

i bought hatch because thats what i wanted. i think it looks much better, although a silvia front end would be nice on a coupe...or a fastback. sil180's kickass.

edit: im biased. i like hatch. but if you want a coupe i would say get a s14.

in the begining of the poll hatch and the coupe were pretty close but now people are starting to vote more to hatch.... I think hatchbacks are too common and coupes can be looking real nice if well taken care of but its just my opinion

I like the coupes but I came to a realization today... their back end looks very generic. At distance it can be mistaken for a stanza, an integera, a prelude, and Im sure a lot of other cars too. Dont think Im down on coupes because Im not... I love them (especially with a silvia front). Its just, even though some might think the 180sx back end is a little fat, at least its unique.

I mean where is the fun in life if everything tastes like chicken?

(that and I have a hatch so Im biased:) thought I do wanna get a coupe too)

i gotta say the hatch. i have a hatch, so i am being biased. but i think that the silvias look bad *** with nothced rear ends, but unless you HAVE a silvia, stick with the hatch. just looks better, more sporty.

Yea i like the hatch better but the silvia conversion to the coupe looks damn good.

I think all this talk about the coupe being lighter and more rigid is insignificant. Whats 50 pounds? I doubt you feel that its more rigid than a fastback. Those arent good points to use in favor of one over another. Personally I like both. I dont like the pop up lights on the coupe though. Put the silvia front on and its sweet. The fastback comes looking sweet.

"What about an R32 front end on a hatch.... now theres an idea...."

Can you do that?

That'd be sweet! but i don't think the crease in the door and fender would line up...
