Hey guys, I'm in the search for a coolant temp sensor. I originally bought the sensor from the one listed in the FAQ, but that's the wrong one. "Coolant temp sensor 25080-89903 (S13 all)" That one is actually a coolant temp SENDER for the gauge. I'm looking for the ENGINE coolant temperature sensor. I searched for a few different sensors from Nissan and it seems to be within two different generations. It seems most 80s sensors go together and most 90s sensors go together.

22630-51E02. That is listed as a coolant temp sensor, which supersedes 22630-51E00 / 22630-V5010. I found that part number on various sites, and it supposedly works for the sr20det also. I'm gonna go on a limb and guess this is probably the part I need. I've looked up a part number supposedly for an 18ET and it shows up for the 18DE. I just want to make sure because I don't know if I can return my sender unit, let alone this one if it isn't the right one. Any Nissan dealer guys knows which is the right part number to get for the CA18DET? Do I get the 18ET or 18DET engine coolant temperature sensor? Possibly even the KA24E? It should be the same since it's all ECCS right?

As for my coolant temp SENDER, it's meant for the 90s Nissans, but I wonder if it'll work for my S12 cluster. I've had a friend wire up the CA18DET(s13) sender and had it read fine on the S12 cluster, but I don't know if it's accurate. The S12(or rather 80s) part number is 89902 instead of 89903.

Oh and does anyone know the knock sensor part number for the 18DET? CA18DE? (not sure if it has one)CA18ET? (I don't think it has one, but I could be wrong)Or maybe the KA24DE, which is a two wire(the CA18DET is 1 wire). Could it possibly be made to work?

Also another note on the CA18DET, there are 3 different types for those that don't know. There is the S12 1st Gen CA18DET with 8 ports, 4 being oval and 4 being circular and throttle body over the valve cover(think rb20 style). Then theres the S13 2nd Gen, which is the typical 8 port, and the S13 Euro 4port. It's a pain in the *** for me to find sensors because I have the S13 motor in the S12 and I need to cross-reference a bunch of part numbers to see which one works with what.

P.S. Can someone update that part cross reference # FAQ later also? Most of the mechanical stuff on there is correct with the exception of a few sensors. THANKS!

Go to your local autoparts joint and ask for those same parts, but for a 1988 Nissan pulsar with 1.8l DOHC engine. Most of the parts for the CA can be referenced from the pulsar, but do keep in mind it is FWD, so forget about the alternator, clutch, flywheel, p/s pump, a/c compressor, etc, etc..........

the Pulsar NX one is the one you want like boost_boy said.

You're thinking too much. essentially you almost always wanna get parts for the Pulsar NX.

haven't had any issues with my DET powered S12 using that general rule of thumb yet(including the temp sensor)

I've got all the other maintenance parts as per the FAQ. I'm looking for the OEM coolant temp sensor. I'm not using those aftermarket crap on my 18det. If my Nissan coolant temp sensor worked for 15+ years, then a brand new one will work for another 15+ years.

Dee, I actually cross reference between the 18ET and 18DE parts. Thanks for the advice though.

Still on the lookout for that Nissan part number for the CTS. I found out both the DE and ET have knock sensors. I'll try to see which one I need to use.

I tested the resistance values of CA, SR, KA sensors. They're the same so just grab either one.

Thanks guys. I kinda figured all newer Nissan sensors were the same being that they have the OHM values for the same temps. I checked different FSMs and the KA/SR/CA all have the same specs. Thanks for the reassurance!
