I've found Mighty Lift part number. It's #95091 and $16.99 from O'Reiley auto parts. Exact same length as Sachs strut. Don't buy Sachs struts. It's $8 more than Mighty Lift. Autozone and O'Reiley carry Mightly Lift struts. Hope this helps.

Mines went bad again. I think they last for about 2 years.

OEM > Aftermarket

Seems like RockAuto doesn't carry them anymore.

Yeah my strut lifts are going bad already too I think...I have to lift the trunk lid now, before I could just pull my trunk release and it would come up on it's own. I got the Sachs from Rockauto as well. Think I'll head over to Autozone this coming week and score me a set of Mighty Lifts. Was it the Mighty Lifts that went bad on you Nemo? Well, at any rate I'm going to get me a set from Autozone this coming week. Don't want to get to the point where the trunk lid is dropping on my head again...still have some knots on the back of my head from a few years ago...sheesh...lol.

No, I got Sachs struts from Pep Boys. This time I'll try Mighty Lift. My trunk never came up on it's own. Did you remove the spoiler?

How can I search in RockAuto? I typed the order number and nothing came up.

You probably need to adjust your release mechanism. That's the first thing I'd check.

There are 2 bolts holding the lock mechanism. Loosen the bolts and push down the lock a little bit. That'll take care of it. I'm talking about 1-2mm. Otherwise you will have to slam the trunk to close it.

I just bought a pair of Mighty Lift struts from O'Reiley today for $16.99 each. Surprisingly, they come with lifetime warranty. That's what they said, but not sure if it's true. Sachs struts went bad in 2 years, so I wsn't going to buy them again anyway. Let's see how they hold up.

Just put in the Mighty Lift #95091 today and they don't pop the trunk lid up. It wont even raise if I give it a nudge in the right direction. They do however hold it up once I raise it.. which is all I really ask for. Granted it could be because it is 6 degrees outside...... I am not really sure. I suppose I could try to move the latch down a little as was mentioned by 94_240sx...

Okay, finally I got tired of these shocks, so I'm going try these. First of all, Sachs strut is rated for 45LB. This is 80LB. I think we've been using wrong struts.

Same thing happened with my hood dampers. I did this modification and I had to buy a new set every year. I did some research and found out Mercury Cougar has exact same length struts for the lift gate. I used them and worked amazing. These aftermarket shocks are not strong enough for our applications, so don't bother to waste your money on them.

So we can use the struts in the ebay link for both the hood mod and the trunk?

Yes, shorter the better for the hood as long as they hold the hood up. I used longer ones for the hood which was a mistake. Wait a bit. I'll buy these 80lb ones and let you know if they are better than Sachs.

How did these struts work for your 240 trunk lid? Did the trunk open automatically without you having to 'help' it along? I have used the Mighty Lifts, #95091 for the last 10 years and I'm having to replace them every 2 years, plus the trunk lid will not open by itself when I do use them. My struts have gone out again and I'm ready to buy some more, and saw your posting for the Ebay struts, so I thought I would inquire about them before I did. Thanks for any info you can provide!

Dunno if the hinges are sticky and catching or these aren't quite strong enough but StrongArm #4419 fit lengthwise, with enough strength to hold up the trunk but not enough to "pop" it up. I'm going to lube the hinges and see if that helps make it easier to open the trunk.

Well, it has been about 7 years since I bought new struts for the convertible. I went with Mighty Lift #4464 and they were satisfactory for 3 or 4 years. The last couple years not so much. Today I replaced them with Lift-o-mat SG359005. Not sure who makes them. Says all over them Stabilus Lift-o-mat so maybe they make their own. Cost was $46 with tax and they seem to work marvelous. Not sure how long they will work good. but they do come with a life-time warranty. got them at Autozone. Last pair I got, thought I got them at Shucks but of course they don't have a phone number for me and I don't have the receipt. So, what's a guy to do but buy them again. Anybody else need to buy them again??

My trunk lid no longer stays up. I went to Kragen's which is now Riley's and was told to get a SG225012. But the strut is 23 inches plus. This still shows up when I look for the item. Stabilus Lift Support - Trunk lid Part Number: S2SG225012 Manufacturer Number: SG225012
