Hey guys, new poster, long time reader of the club's forums. Here's the deal. I'm going to be picking up a 94 truck here pending it's inspection tomorrow, and am thinking that eventually will want to swap out the SOHC ka for something a little better. Now, there's a couple factors I really need to take into account here.

Firstly, pictures are always a must

It's got a 3" body lift and 31" d!ck Cepek mud tires. Now, I've never seen or even thought of the idea of doing more of an off road themed HB with an SR, RB or what ever else I may choose, so the idea does kind of intrigues me. Realistically, I've got a very basic mechanical know how, so this is where hopefully I can get some advice. I've seen and read enough to know that it is possible to swap it all, but considering the current status of the truck, would there be some problems I may run in to?

Secondly, I've got a 93 240sx in my garage that has a little too much body damage to be streetable (Was fun while it lasted. All on a track.) It has a perfectly good KA24DE with like 170XXX kms, would it be worth it to simply build that up a little bit, potentially even NA (Bearing in mind, I really don't expect a whole lot of power that route, but it's always something I'd considered when the 240 ran) The idea being that I'm assuming it'd be a lot easier to swap the SOHC KA for the DOHC from the 240 versus doing something like the full on SR swap for instance. What motor would you guys recomend, DOHC KA or spending a bit more time for the SR or RB etc.

If you want a little more oomph, consider a gear swap. Those 2wd 3.54 gears are probably struggling pretty good with 31s. You should have gears in the 4.3-4.6 range. Swapping in a 4x4 axle is one way of accomplishing that.

Put an LS1 in it. You can fit an LS1 into anything.
