I made a post a while back asking what tool to use on the funky s13 female square transmission oil drain plug because it was jammed like a mofo and the 1/2 inch ratchet seemed a little loose and might strip. I was told the 1/2 inch ratchet is the best thing to use... so i did. The square female peice is now more of a rounded octogon and I'm ready to start killing people. What are my options here? How much would it cost to get a skilled mechanic to drill it out and rethread it? thanks in advance

I hear your pain... But drill it out and use an ez out to pull it out, go to Nissan and get a new one. Do the last part first and the first part last!!!!!!!!!:D

ez out? what exactly is that. I thought when you drill out a bolt you basically drill a hole thats big enough to take out the threads and then use a new threaded insert. Is there an easier way? I'm not sure if i trust myself doing a decent job since I've never drilled a bolt out before....

An ez out has a reversed pitch, so you would drill a hole a little smaller then the ezout tap the ez out in a little and back the plug out.The reversed pitch grabs it and when you tighten the ezout it is loosening the plug. Got it?:)

Ok i got the ez out, seems ez enough (get it?). However if the transmission drain plug is like the diff drain plug the there is a magnet inside to pick up metal shavings, when i drill through im going to be making magnetic dust which could be hard to get out of the transmission (being magnetic and all). Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.

My only idea: if the drain plug is made out of steel(not shure about that maybe it's not) weld something onto(or the jammed 1/2" ratchet into the drain plug) to get some grip for big pliers or any other useable tool, and heat it up a bit with a blow torch before trying to move that thing

Thanks for the idea, i don't have a welder but my mechanic said he would do it for $60, not too bad...

You might be able to use a chisel and a hammer, tap the plug at and angle counter clock wise, its hard to explain.

try to fit the head of a BOLT* inside there, then thread 2 NUTS onto it and try to loosen it using the bolts, thats how most trannies are, unless the 240 transmission truly is just a 1/2 in. female end and its stripped to crap

EDIT: BOLT and NUT heh
