Granted it hasn't ran yet but the compression test show 64 psi all the way across.

The list:Perfect Circle Rings standard sizeCometic 1mm MLS head gasketARP head studs (torque squence from Chilton manual @ ARP specs)All machine work done by very reputable shopBottom end assembled by a seperate but equally reputable shop.

I am dumbfounded...

What is the point of holding the throttle down? I think it would supply it self with enough air and fuel with the throttle closed to build compression due to the IAC.

The compression should be well over 179psi.

Kinda a low but should run her for a few minutes and let her get warm. What kind of rings were used?

the rings are brand new, its basically a brand new oem setup minus crank pistons, and rods. the head has been decked, timing its prefect. it ran for about 2 seconds then stoped and can get going again. i built my ca18 side by side with this motor and the ca works great. the only difference is a shop had to rubuild his bottom end cause i used advaced auto assembly lube on his motor.

-sorry the car is in my shop, and i know the whole history on the motor. any suggestions are very helpful THANK YOU!!!!!!

if the distributer is off it wont make a difference though because thats electric timing. that wont cause 64 psi, i know they havent seated yet but i dont think i can get it to fire at that low

make sure ALL of the plugs are out, throttle wide open.. and connect the positive battery to the bottom starter thing to crank it over...

If it still stays at 64, try adding oil.. something is wrong... wrong install of rings maybe?

Hopefully they did so we don't have to buy more parts. And if they did we are going to let them do the work.

But lets try the oil trick tonight and remeasure all four cylinders.Or we'll dig out and use the leak down gauge. That should give a better idea of the problem.
