So far the only mods I have applied on my 02 I35 are:

- Cattman Muffler/Rear Section
- K&N Air Filter

What other useful bolt-on mods are available out there to increase driving pleasure other than brake systems? For example, I heard folks do not recommend replacing the stock intake with say a STILLEN Hi-Flow Intake…

I was also thinking about the Y-Pipes; but wanted to keep my car street legal. Have you seen ECUs and Flywheels made available for our car?

Production for Cattman ypipe is underway. No waiting on a list. Just give Brian a call and in 6 weeks or so we'll all have our new ypipes. It's absolutely street legal with the ypipe. That's why I began the quest for a production run 3 months ago. I wanted to remain quiet and emissions friendly.

Based on what I have learned about the y-pipe, it takes out the precats, how is it considered "emissions friendly"? In addition, you risk not passing emission test since it may produce a code that can be picked up, no?

As far as noise level, why would increased air flow with the y-pipe remain as quiet as stock? I don't understand.

For the rest of the members, any other mod suggestions?

Well.. be advised with Cattman's full setup.. which I have, headers, Y-pipe, fast CAT, and 3" catback.. there are no rear O2 sensors. Other than that, I love my setup. I have the intake that Cattman sells and I would recommend a suspension. The soft stock suspension was just crazy soft and didn't handle all that well. I have the rear sway bar and a decent setup to lower the car about 1.5 to 2 inches. Those two made the car feel and drive like a different car. The noise level is no where near the same with the setup I have but its not as loud as my 3/4 ton Chevy 4x4 or my buddies Evo 8. I haven't found anyone that makes a chip/ecu for our cars that isn't a whole stand alone unit. There was one company, TechnoSquare, that would reflash yours and send it back but they fired the tech they had doing them and last I checked, they haven't hired another one. As for a flywheel, I haven't checked on one. My I35 is an automatic. I also have Jim Wolfe S2 cams and they made a hell of a difference. After doing all that to mine, the engine revs so much quicker and its a blast to drive. Above 3700 to 3800 the cams kick in and its crazy. I also get on average 4 to 6 better MPG's now than stock. Its roughly around 26 to 28 around town and 28 to 32 on the highway at 80 mph.

I hope this helps.

I did some further research on the Cattman Y-Pipe and confirmed that the precat will be intact on the 5.5 generation of Maxima / I35. Nevertheless, I have doubts on the performance improvement, a few HP perhaps?

Lee: For the Jim Wolfe S2 cams, is this the one that you have installed? What is the differences between S1 and S2?
