Unfortunately I got in a collision w/ the median coupla months ago.... no major body damage just the struts are gone (I'm replacing them) however, I'm afraid there is mainframe damage as if I straighten my steering wheel out, it'll veer to the left... to go perfectly straight I have to keep the wheel a little turned to the right (the collision hit the front left tire first, I was thinking that might have impacted the main frame of the car)

any1 have any ideas on how to straightten the steering wwheel out without going to a bodyshop and do mainframe work

It may not be your frame at all. You're suspension could be the culprit. Lift the front end and do a visual inspection. Look for any bent parts. You can check out the underbody of the car at the same time for any visual signs of a bent frame. Bent frames can usually be apparent by looking at major body panels and taking a step back to look at the car. Look for any twisting of the front end or shifts. From side, look to see if the front end seems to point up or down.

Frame work is more expensive than regular body work. Generally double the cost of regular body work. But if your fram is bent, and there is no body damage, they can probably do a frame pull and need no body work. If you can't tell there is frame damage just by looking at your car, chances are if there is any, it will be minor.

Best thing to do is to verify the actual damage. Then get a quote for the work.

thanks.... due to the struts being damaged, the left side is slightly lower to the ground..... and there is some negative camber in my wheels.... could that be the problem of the unstriaghtened steering wheel?? the guy at the shop said that couldn't be but I am hesitant to trust just 1 opinion....

I agree with c-kwik I would think its the suspention your car is probably misaligned from the collision. Thats what I guessing according to what u said.

Check your inner tierod make sures its not bent, 2 cars i've repaired after major front tire curbing just needed that and an alianment at a tire shop. Course it could be more, but just an idea of something to check.

Well, if your not sure what we mean by suspension damage, and your not sure what an inner tierod is, you should prolly send it into a allignment/suspension shop and have them look at it.
