Cold engine rpms?

I always let my little beast warm up for 2 minutes before I hit the accelerator for the first time that day. It usually revs at 1200 and I've seen it as high as 1500. Well today it was at a full 2k, and didn't want to come down when I tapped the accelerator pedal a couple times. It dropped down some after the 2 minutes but I've never seen it rev so high before. What say U's?
