If you don't want to spend the money just buy an ebay one and a K&N filter. Good to go.

Neither of them are going to give you any appreciable power gains, in fact both will probably actually give you a slight loss as you're now drawing hot air from the engine bay into the intake rather than cooler air from the front valence.

They're okay if you like the custom look and sound though. The ebay cheapies tend to be kind of roughly made, but could be made to look okay with some paint. One thing to watch out for is that most of them do not appear to have any kind of provision for the (PAIR system?) hose that hooks into the airbox on the stock setup, so if you're anywhere with an emissions or inspection program you'll need to come up with some kind of a provision for hooking it back in.

i would say save some cash and go with the ebay cai. if anything i have noticed a difference between the cold air and short ram set ups in my 240. i got a ebay pipe, and a custom made extension to put the filter in the typical cold air location in the driver side fender/front bumper area. i am happy with it, and i can definately notice the difference when im runnin my short ram for those rainy days. so i would say the cold air extension seems to help out a little.

A good drop in filter and gutted air box will gain you probably what those intakes will and your plastic won't heatsoak as badly as the aluminium.

I just put on in not even 20 minutes ago it's winter time so I opted for the ram air. not to mentio the airbox is a ***** to get at to make the full CAI. either way It had all the connections for the stock Vaccum lines and fittings except for the valve breather that had to be T fitted on - everything I needed for the install was included
