I have a 74 620 pickup that has a 5 speed transmision. I've been reading that this probably wasnt the original transmission since I believe in 74 the 620's only came out with a 4 spd. My problem is this;
I replaced the clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. When removing the slave cylinder I noticed a past owner replaced the stock lenght rod (the rod from the slave cylinder that activates the fork) with a bolt about 1 and 1/2 inch longer than the original rod. The original rod is too short. I tried to use it and it work for about a day, then because it was so short it caused the internal piston on the slave cylinder to come completyly out, draining alll fluid and thus no clutch. I have since re-installed the old bolt and it seems to work, but its hoky.
I would appreciate any knowledge or feedback on this. I want to make it right.
