clutch question non nissan

Car: 1991 nissan king cab pick up

my brother in law has mazda 323 and clutch is clicking inside bell housing when clutch actuator is moved. Any idea what this may be, and is it saying something is about to break? Any help is much appreciated Thanks. Hopefully someone has had this on a nissan or knows what may be causing it on a mazda.
