clutch problems!

ok, so i have a '95 240sx and the clutch pedal recently started having some loss of resistance. first it was just the first couple inches of travel, but when i started my car this morning and depressed the clutch, it went to the floor with no resistance whatsoever and obviously i was not able to shift into gear. i figured the system might need to be bled, so i jacked the car up and accessed the slave cylinder. immediately when i loosened the valve, fluid came out. does this mean that the system does not need to be bled? or was that just the initial fluid in the slave coming out? i didn't keep it open for too long. also, if bleeding is not the issue, what else would cause the lack of pedal? thanks.

ive had similar problems, ok the first thing that would come to mind is to bleed it. if that doesnt help you probably have air in the lines. double check the clutch master cylinder and check the slave cylinder by sqeezing the boot on the slave fork or moving it back and if there is any fluid whatsoever then you have a bad slave cylinder wich is one reason your clutch isnt holding any pressure. if you can just get it enough to drive a little, drive it for a day or so wich will work the air bubbles to the slave cylinder then the way to bleed the slave is by opening the valve then while the valve is open have someone push the clutch in and hold it, no pumping and then close the vavle. this should remove the worked up air in the slave. pumping before bleeding will cause the worked air in the slave to be scattered in the lines with would defeat the purpose. another way is with the vavle close pump the clutch and see if tiny air bubbles are comming out the clutch master, and if there is air comming out you know you have air in the lines.

i bled the system and was able to get the clutch working again, which had led me into my 2nd question, which you've already answered, i believe. the boot on the slave cylinder piston has fluid coming out of it when i move it around. that means a bad slave, correct? thanks, i appreciate the help.

hi merry merry cristhmas sorry for any bad spelling my car (1993 240SX ka24de dohc W/O ABS)i was driving it after adjusting the clutch engagement by the clutch pedal, after a week or so i felt that the clutch was releasing not where I adjust it see I like my clutch low so it was releasing higher than ever so I adjust it again and it seems to be working fine for now why and now its so low that i dont like it why could this be???
