I was curious as to which was more popular with the A/C owners when you were purchasing your car. Was it the cloth seats, or the leather? And why did you make that choice?

i can already tell you its cloth because you have to get leather in the premium package. some people like the altima coupe but didn't have much money and got the base 2.5s and some people had barely enough money for the 3.5se. a decent amount of people have the premium package but i'm pretty sure the response is going to be overwhelmingly cloth

If you are getting a 2.5S, The cloth package is significantly cheaper than the premium package. I got my cloth 2.5S with Convenience package and moonroof for $21,300, I think I would have had to pay at least 24k for the leather package option, Which includes bluetooth/bose audio system/whatnot. If that's worth 3k to you, then get leather. I bought a leather kit from ebay for $450 (or you can get them for $700-$800 from leatherseats.com or a katzkin reseller) and install it yourself. It takes about 10-20 hours of labor and about $40 worth of tools to do it also. I've never installed leather uphostlery myself, but I read a DIY 3000GT leather install online and did the same to A/C. I can post end results pics if people want to see.

I love my animal hyde. Feels nice, you have heated seats, and it looks sharper. Leather was a big thing for me when I got my new car.

When i was first looking for a car i wanted the cloth because i sweat alot, leather+ perspiration = uncomfy!

BUUUUTTTTT I found myself using my AC when its that hot . . . since the AC in this car ACTUALLY WORKS! (unlike my previous junker). Then i began to realize all these good points of leather . . .

looks better, smells better, heated seats, score all around imo

Didn't like the idea of sticking to the seats while wearing shorts in the summer.

Leather is always nice, but for us Canadians it gets much colder in the winter and if you have heated seats the cloth heats up much faster.

Also, I got cloth because a 2.5 with leather costs more in Canada than a fully loaded 3.5 in the states. We get screwed.

For the extra $$$ required for the leather package, I decided to get cloth instead. An extra 3-4K for the package that includes leather VS $800-$900 for completely customized Katzkin...the choice was simple for me!

Why pay extra for all the extras you can put in yourself much cheaper?

I found the leather seats to be a little less comfortable then the cloth. The bose system would just got ripped out anyway and heated seats really dont mean anything since cloth isnt really sensitive to temperature change as leather is.

So personally, I would go for cloth. You save money and dont freeze or sweat to death when you first enter the car!

...someone who tells it like it is! haha! jk

I know you get quite a bit for the extra $$$, but as losenone said, if you're going to be putting in aftermarket stuff anyway, it doesn't really seem worth it. I probably should have clarified that in my post!

If, however, you're keeping the car stock I would definitely opt for the leather...it's nice n' squishy.

BTW, don't the US Altimas have heated seats as a standard feature whether you have leather or not? I keep seeing people mentioning heated seats as a perk with the leather option...up here in Canuckville it's standard on all models.

No leather - no heated seats in the US. My dad has a base model 2.5 - no heated seats.

I plan on ripping my system out as well, but this will do for now. Then I will sell it.

When I bought my civic (SI) it had aftermarket leather installed by the dealer. I loved having leather in that car, and I wanted heated seats. Call me lame, but it's a nice perk and chicks seems to dig it during the winter. Also, I wanted the rest of the goodies that came with the premium package anyway. For me it was worth it, but to each his own.

I have a 05 Altima SL with heated leather, and my 08 Coupe 2.5 with heated cloth. The cloth heats up 5x faster.

Leather is sensitive to the outside temp. it is hot in summer and cold in winter.

^^^^...and daaaaaaaamn would you notice the cold over there in Winterpeg! Keep in mind that the original poster lives in California...I'd much rather have a hot leather seat than the sensation of sitting on a frozen slab of beef...haha

I went for the leather package and don't regret it in the least. THe Bluetooth hands-free is awesome. I use it quite often. THe leather seats are great. Very comfortable. Bose system does a good job on my tunes.

Premium Package, ftw.

I live in Cali and had my car over the summer and I never got swamp a$$. Plus in the mornings it can get down in the 50's so the heated leather feals really nice.

Little off topic, but xSoCalxRiderx450 & srwong need to check out the thread on our up coming meet next sunday.

the leather is a must... you spill something on cloth seats and ur screwed unless u clean it right away, leather is more forgiving.

i do tend to use the bluetooth hands-free alot too, but the bose is a little bit disappointing IMO

it's still nice to be able to play mp3s and have 6 cds inside at all times.

I think the Premium Package is def. worth it. Tech package on the other hand, not so much, I was kinda disappointed I spent and extra $2000 on something where the aftermarket is cheaper and way better.

yea, i was kinda put back a little when that statement was made. I couldn't really see people choosing cloth way more than leather.

HEY!!! I got the auto-dimming rearview, but WITHOUT compass...Dammit!

I did get the tech package though and the nav. has a compass, so there's that but....what if I don't have the nav system on and I need to know which direction I'm going?!?!?!?!?! Do you not get a compass on your rearview if you have the tech package?

BTW, I don't have a preference for leather over cloth. I've had cars with both in the past and they both have their positives and negatives. Leather seats seem more luxurious, but cloth seats are so plush and snuggly!!
