I just bought my Rogue last week. I am very pleased with the drive of the car and love the color, iridium graphite. The bluetooth is easy and a joy and sound system perfect . It had been a while since purchasing and I wanted to avoid the high pressure sales which using the Costco buying program was great for. Anyway, I did decline the extended warranty and clear coat protection program offered. As I sit here after the first rain of the season, I wondered what the factory finish actually includes . In other words does the car come with a clear coat finish, should I get an aftermarket clear coat added?? Or should I just wash and polish on a regular basis. Please advise. Thanks, Sharon

car already has clearcoat that is part of the painting process, it is waht makes the paint shine. all that should be necessary is to wash and wax your car.

That is one of the biggest scams at dealerships ,gap insurance, undercoating, extended warranty ,clear coat ect. This cars will last a long time just do regular servicing and it will last. Don't buy any extras because you are financing for 5 years something that will cost you four fold any way

I just purchased my Orange Rogue (will post pics soon) and I send it in tomorrow for the paint protection process. Should I cancel this. They told me I should have it done so that the sun does not fade the color, especially being Orange.

Cheers!Shedrock

I would suggest you to cancel it. pretty much all those extra add-ons are trying to sale you things you don't need. I remember I read it somewhere that these folks get paid by selling you those additional "stuff".

The manufacturer tests those finishes over long periods of time and tough conditions. The paint suppliers also push the limits on their products prior to being choosen to supply a manufacturer with their product.I vote no to protection. I believe the others have it right....my 2cents

I'm from Victoria, BC, I have to admit we don't get much snow down here but when we do, salt is all over the place, which tends to end up in your car, then you know what's next. also, majority of the time, it's wet and humid. That was one main reason i took the protection plan, rust prevention. i know these cars are built to last, but with these weather conditions, i think having the protection plan will pay for itself in the future.

my 2 cents.

I read somewhere that the person selling this stuff , be it the salesperson, financing guy, or whomever, collects 15% of the transaction. Wow!
