I like using Eagle One Nanowax. Easy to apply, it is a polymer so it lasts long, and doesn't create any dust when removing after letting it dry. A downside to the last trait is that you will need a good deal of microfiber towels to remove the excess wax as it cakes onto the towels. But once you have enough, you just wash them and reuse them the next time you wax. Another great feature of the Nanowax is that it does not show up on rubber and plastics like most other waxes do. so you don't have to be as careful when you wax near rubber and plastic trim.
As far as mothers aluminum polish, yes, do not use them on the factory wheels. The factory wheels are clearcoated. Wax the wheelslike you would the rest of your car. Use a paint polish only if absolutely necessary.
