Hey, I finally got the engine out of my basement, and was able to find time to drop it into the car. I decided to break in the engine N/A, just to make sure I do not screw up anything. So after I dropped the engine in, I double checked everything, and it fired up the first try. I'm still a little off timing, but I'm borrowing a timing light from a friend. One other problem I have been having is that it over heats, even at idle. I have not driven the car very far, because its not insured, or registered. When I first started the car, I was keeping the rpm's at 2k (like I read in a engine break-in thread), and I no0ticed white smoke coming from the hood, and my temp gauge started to rise quickly. I immediately shut the engine off, and assesed the problem. I have a little pin hole in one of the lines leading to the heater core. I drained my coolant, replaced that hose, and started the car up again. Thinking I had fixed the problem, I continued with the break-in porcess. I continued to hold the rpm's at 2k, and was listening for any noises, suddenly I head a popping sound, and noticed the temp start to rise rapidly. I shut the car off, and looked under the hood. THere was coolant splattered everywhere. I looked under the car, and there was a very larg puddle of coolant rolling down my driveway. I touched the upper rad hose and it was quiet hot, and the lower hose was very cool. All the hoses were still attached to where they are supposed to be. So now im stumped I researched a little, could it be my t-stat not working properly?
