So I did some searching and people have stated 2000+ chevy wheels will fit with no problem. I have a 1983 720 2wd automatic. My tires are done for, and I was looking on craigslist to try and get a wheel + tire package. I came across these 17" chevy steel wheels, tire size p245-70-17. I am thinking these are too big for the truck? Any thoughts?

Thanks guys i thought so. Would 15" be a reasonable max size wheel?

31-10.50 15 is the biggest you'll wanna go and they will still scrub some that is whats on my 84 720 4x4 , i have bad shocks and 2 inch body lift front tires always scrub , i recently found a nail in a front tire and had to buy a set of smaller tires for the front and now they don't scrub and there 205/ 75 r15 also my spedo is 5mph faster then it says with the 31 10.50's , measure your lug patter from center of the stud to the next one any rim with same patter measurements as yours will bolt up just the tire size mite be an issue

chevy wheels will fit but the center bore is to small. so you'll need to have them bored out to fit the front hubs or you can grind off the lil tabs on your hub so they will fit. This applys with most any other 6 lug wheel as well. Toyota 4x4 wheels, mid 90s and old mazda truck wheels, and mitz truck wheels will just bolt on. Nissan/Infiniti Titan and 6 lug suv wheels will fit too but also need to be bored out. hope that might help.

Depends on how much tire you want to run

I am running 205/60r15 on my D21 with a 2" lowering all around. Handling is pretty good and they don't look funny on the truck in a overly huge way.
