Chevy 305 V8 swap to nissan running gear

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

I have a 1989 nissan Hardbody ( D21) with a 2.4 L 4cly with a 5 speed man trans, 4x4,married transfer case,

I am doing a engine swap to a small block chevy (305 V8). The 305 v8 was pulled out of a 1987 El comino with 68k orignal miles and a 4 speed man trans

Does anyone have any idea's on how i can adapt my nissan transmission and transfer case to a small block chevy engine. is there any place where i can purchase an adapter plate to adapt my nissan trans to a chevy motor?

i just pulled the stock Z24 out of my truck last night along with the trans. and this weekend i am going to drop i nthe v8 with a turbo 350 trans. does anyone have any ideas i can use to mount the trans to the nissan D21 hardbody frame?

You can find an adapter plate or have one pade by a machine shop as long as they have the right measurments. Now I dont know about the input shaft though. You might have to have a custom spline if its not the same spline count.

Car: lots of unique hot rods, and customs, with modern engines, and a good truck to pull the trailer.

But you will blow that 5spd up sooner than later. Unless you don't really use the engine's torque.granted a 305 has a max of about 220 ft Lbs, but that trans and case were never meant for the torque the chevy makes

hows the swap going?? have you run into any clerance probs? getting ready to do the same thing, just finished rebuilding a chevy 305,(30 over pistons, cam, gear drive head redone ect.) going to try to make an adapter plate for chevy to nissan trans. if i do have to go to a chevy 350 turbo i will have to also get a transfer case out of a s-10 or s-10 blazer, that puts your front drive shaft on the correct side.

oh yeah, i'm not too worried about blowing up my nissan tranny, just going to be a road truck, avanced adapters have been making chevy to toyota adapter plates for years. you can mess up ANY trans depending on how you drive. i don't plan on off roading.

I've used Advanced Adapters numerous times, good parts. I like some of their engine mountings.

If you do go with a chevy trans(highly recomend it) why a 3spd 350, not a 700r4? The 700 has a much lower first gear, and a great overdrive, and hooks up just as easily, a bit longer though. s/10 parts are not made strong enough for a v8, can be modified to last longer, but......

TH350 vs 700R4 has been debated many of times. The can both take a beating, depends if you want the OD or not, but the TH350 allows for harder launch but the top end ratio sucks.

But I have a TH350 on my LS, it holds just fine

A recent article I read in Car Craft or Hot Rod said the 200-4R is also a very good tranny to work with and can be found in a lot of late 80's RWD GM platforms. Price and number available are said to make this a great choice. I have no actual experience with it, nor have I priced or looked for one. Just thought I'd toss that into the option hat.

Anyone have any data on that tranny?
