Stroker kit for our VQ35DE!!!take it from a 3.5L to a 4.1L!!!

heres an email i got from Brian:"The stroker kit will fit your engine. Just need to specify desired bore size and compression ratio, delivery is 3 weeks. 50% deposit required.".."Auto transmission would work but manual would see better results. We have sent a few strokers out for the Altima…hard to keep track sine we just focus on the engine (VQ35DE)…not the chassis." -Brian C.

What do you guys think about this?...im just sharing my find with everyone.

Am I correct in reading that stroker kit costs 5500 bucks? If I am that us crazy. Couldn't you put in a new engine for that price.

It should not matter if its RWD/FWD/AWD you are doing internal modification which is why its very expensive to do, because you are also replacing new internal parts such as pistons, rods, and rings etc.

Actually, this is kinda old news. I've known about this for months now and have been debating on either boosting or modding the engine to a 4.1 stroker. In fact, I told nurseryboy about this and he was impressed. However doing my research the final cost of doing this mod would be in the neighborhood of $10 to $15K That's right..$10 to $15K! Here's the breakdown:

Stroker Kit - $5500 Additional parts - $4.5K (manifold, injectors, fuel rail, tune, etc)Labor - $5 - $6K

Yes, I called up a well known tuner shop in NYC/NJ area to see if they could do it and they can but they also mentioned the other costs as well.

And lets not forget, this involves boring of the stock motor which means thinner walls which equals to more prone to mechanical failure. At that price unless Nissan is sponsoring me motors when the blocks crack and a shop doing the labor for free as a sponsor and all the other goodies are given to me for a discounted rate or free, it's not worth the money.

It's nice to dream though...

If you're going to stroke an engine, you should go with a known builder who specializes in VQ35s... Boring it will thin the walls, which is why it's pretty imperative to sleeve them to add the strength back. It's almost cheaper to buy a shortblock and build from that, and part out/sell your original engine after the new one is installed!

I believe SFR sells both long and shortblocks for Altimas. If you throw on their turbo kit for our A/Cs and want to build from there, you might as well get your engine stroked out since you would need to build up the internals anyways.

Agreed...you need to choose a well known builder. That's why I went to VTR or Vinny Ten Racing! He knows his $hit

Looking at the project as a whole, the price doesn't really justify the means. Perhaps if it was a 350 or 370 Nismo but honestly, I think this would be more of a WOW factor. The CVT is still the Achilles's heel

Oh, I know... I was considering going with the SFR turbo kit, but since I'm planning on picking something "fun" up in the very near future, I'm going to hold off. I've been given the green flag on building it up by my old lady, so I should be g2g.

Personally, I'd go with a non-NISMO 370Z... About the only addition I'd leave on over the standard 370s is the body kit, so incurring the cost for the rest of the NISMO edition just doesn't make sense. Though if we get the Coupe and Roadster @ the same time I might consider it, and simply move the NISMO performance parts over to the Roadster.

I'm envisioning a stroked VQ37 w/ twin Turbonetics GT-Ks wrapped inside the NISMO body kit, completely repainted with HoK's Shimrin Midnight Blue Black Pearl.
