I could be way off but I think the 1500lbs used to only apply to models with supplementary transmission cooling. Perhaps all 2013s have that these days? The last manual I read gave 1000 and 1500 depending on trim level.

older years that have a tranny cooler have 1500lbs towing capacity. the the last few years and the new model will only be 1000lbs.

I was just thinking about a small trailer and 2 snowmobiles. I like to have a nice margin of safety between what I "can" tow and what I "do" tow.

I was mostly wondering if my wifeunit ended up getting a Rogue if she could tow our trailer in a pinch if my Express crapped the bed for whatever reason.

So just for kicks, I looked up towing capacities between 2013 and 2014 Rogue platforms.

According to Nissan's website, it looks like the 2013 is rated for up to 2,000 lbs towing capacity, while the 2014 Rogue is rated for only 1,000.

Do any of you tow with your rogue? Are you going to miss the extra 1,000 lbs towing capacity?

I'd like to see a Rogue towing a Versa that has gone limp and is whining down the highway.

the 2013 and below NEVER were rated at 2000lbs. must be a mistake.

Hmm... you very well may be right. Now that I'm reading it again, it seems to suggest that the dealer installed hitch itself is rated for 2,000 lbs.

"Hitch Ball Mount, Class I [*]
Rated for towing up to 2,000 lbs
Mounts to Tow Hitch Receiver for Hitch Ball mounting"

Even still, the one for 2014 is only rated to 1,000 lbs :(

Damnit, I just created a thread exactly like this, and somehow didn't see this one.

Edit- super ninja mod tools merged the threads.

I would not tow ANYTHING with any car that had a CVT transmission.

The dealer installed my hitch before delivery with the lighting harness. When I bought the car I told them I pull a small utility trailer hauling my garden tractor to cut my parents grass every 2 weeks. They told me the front wheel drive is rated 1,000 pounds, the AWD 1,500 pounds.

I tow a 5'x8' utility trailer with fold down ramp with our 2013, usually with either a 24 hp Husqvarna riding mower or a Suzuki Eiger 400cc ATV on it with no issues. It tracks good, and you don't even know it's back there. We live in the mountains, and it doesn't even affect braking, which was my concern.

I have a 2008 nissan rogue with 71000 miles on it. I just pulled uhauls 1000lbs trailer with a 600lbs motorcycle on it along with 200lbs adults×2, and 40 lbs dog with some gear, from Fort Detrick MD to Yorktown VA. That took us 4 hrs with two brakes in between. I also have the cvt with intercooler transmission. I have a class 3 hitch with 2 inch ball I would say altogether about 1000lbs with everything. When I asked the uhaul guy how much my car could tow he said 2291lbs and that is what was written on the door. Although I didn't use my paddle shifters the whole way except through the mountains my rogue did excellent. Tommorrow I'm heading from Yorktown VA to Fort Gordon GA.
If anyone has towed more then this please let me know. If not I have set the new record. Na nana boo boo stick ur head in do doo. I also was hitting a nice 70mph with between 20.7mpg-26.5mpg.

Is there anyway to increase the towing capacity of a 2104 AWD?

Today I finished my journey with my rogue that I mentioned above. I had no problems going from Yorktown VA to Fort Gordon GA. It took me 8 hrs to complete. On straight aways I used automatic and on hills I would use manual. Kept at a constant 70mph and had no problems. I am really impressed with the rogue and I will probably look into upgrading to the 2014 rogue. Keep in mind I did this with a 2008 nissan rogue with 72000 miles pulling a 1000lbs trailer 600lbs motorcycle 500 lbs of extra weight in side the vehicle. Also every 2 1/2 hours I took a 30 minute break. I will keep this updated as much as I can.

I have a FWD 2008 nissan rogue with tranny cooler and I have 72000 miles on it. I just towed a trailer of 1300lbs with a 600lbs motorcycle and about 400lbs of inside weight. I pulled it from Yorktown VA to Fort Gordon GA without a single issue. I very proud of my rogue and I just wanted to post it. Hopefully I have no issues down the road. Plus I kept it at a constant 70mph

08 Rogue with paddle shifters...I bought my boat at 72k miles, and now have 115k miles, my boat/trailer loaded weighs 1500 lbs.(I have put it on the CAT scales). I have not experienced any issues, but only get about 20MPG while towing. With wife, myself, full load and boat we are about 250 lbs below the GVWR on the rogue.

for years I have been towing a 1600 lb boat (Total wgt with gear) with my 4cyl mitsubishi outlander here in Florida. All flat terrain with a boat ramp 12 miles from the house, 50 mph or less. Any opinions on the 2015 Rogue would handle it.

1600lbs will be at its edge. it should be fine in my opinion. is the boat ramp really angled downward or not?

Not very steep. I never had an issue with the Mitsubishi and it sounds like the rogue is a little faster. But I would had to buy one and find out it won't work.

The Rogue will be able to do it, the question is for how long before the relatively fragile CVT gives upover heats. The 14/15 Rogue is only rated to tow ~1000lbs. The user manual and the Nissan website like to contradict themselves on the exact number. Personally I'd avoid towing anything at all with a new Rogue, let alone 1600lbs.

Why "the fragile CVT", looking at repair - reliability web sites there doesn't seem to be any issue with the cvt. I have had an Outlander with a cvt for 4 years, towing without issue.

When there are issues is seems that they tend to be related to overheating.
