I am trying to charge r134a into my 99 Q45, but I could not do it. I brought a standard r134a cable that connect a can of r134a and the low pressure service port, but it won't connect right. It looks like I need a special r134a adapter at the low pressure service port. Do I really need any special r134a adapter?

Should be the standard input... are you sure you have the low side port?

A temporary fix at best and ultimately expensive waste of refrigerant if you don't address the cause of the leak.

The service manual shows the low pressure port is near the firewall. The cap of that port also has the letter "L" on it. So I think it is the right port.

I purchased a different charging cable today, hopefully it will work this time.

the ONLY way to check for the exact, correct amount of r134 is to evac, vac, recharge the correct amount back into the system-checking/correcting leaks during this process- just topping off creates a bigger problem.

Shortcuts often lead to larger problems, especially when they are only palliatives.

Well, the AC is running at full strength after a can of r134a. I brought a cable with a gage on it and it fit perfectly with the service port. It uses the standard r134a connector. So no special adapter needed. Let see how long this will last.

Thanks all!
