The fuse labeled regulator, reverse, instruments (or something just like that) blew.I replaced it. It got real hot and blew again. I checked the voltage across my battery terminals, and it is not charging. Replaced the voltage regulator (with one from a u-pull-it) and got the same result.Checked my reverse lights and they're fine.If I put a fuse in, before it blows, the gas gauge and the temp gauge work. So do the reverse lights. It's Portland winter and I really need this truck to run. If anyone has an idea of what is wrong here, I could use the help ASAP.

I'd check all your grounds and alternator connections. Check the connections at the relays under the hood too. Look for kinked wires, corrosion, loose connections, grease build up, etc.

Been a long time since I've been on here, but it was simply a bad alternator.I replaced it and the truck is happy as can be.

if you've added any extra gadgets... i.e. lighting, stereo, etc. you may want to insure that your alternator is constantly putting 12 volts into your battery, if it's ever dipping below 12 volts. you will need to look into getting a bigger alternator put in. Also, you may want to check your grounds and make sure they are all good.
