CHARCOAL CANISTER

Postby funkone » Thu Sep 23, 2010 9:11 pm

I HAVE A 76 620 THAT I PUT A 32/36 WEBER ON IT AND IT RUNS FINE,I HAD TO GET A LITTLE CREATIVE WITH THE VACUUM HOSES GOING TO THE CHARCOAL CANNISTER,THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THAT WHEN THE ENGINE WARMS UP IT STARTS TO IDLE REAL BAD UNTIL I REMOVE THE VACUUM HOSE GOING TO THE DIAPHRAM ON THE CHARCOAL CANNISTER...... THE WAY I HAVE THE VACUUM LINES ROUTED ARE LIKE THIS- FROM THE EGR SOLENOID TO THE THE THERMAL VACUUM VALVE, THEN FROM THE T.V.V. TO A TEE FITTING THAT RUNS TO THE CHARCOAL CANNISTER AND TO THE TEE HARD LINE GOING TO THE CARB. NOW MY QUESTION IS... DOES THIS MEAN THAT MY CANNISTER IS CLOGGED OR MAYBE JUST THE DIAPHRAM IS BAD?......I LIVE IN NEW MEXICO AND WE HAVE TO SMOGGED OUT HERE, ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED THANK YOU!

it might mean that the charcoal canister filter is in need of changing... i'll double check your digram to be sure you have the lines hooked up right though

Would you mind posting some pictures of your vacuum set-up with the Weber carb? I have a '78 with the same carb. It would be much appreciated, thanks!
