I have a Super Hicas 92 240SX SE - Does this come w/ ABS standard - if not where can I look in my engine bay to know if I have ABS. I'm lost w/out a FSM. (Reason I'm asking is because the front pads I got are too big - I just don't know if its their fault or mine - I said I had ABS.)

Second - When doing the rear brakes - I read that you have to screw the piston in not compress. Which way do I turn it - do I just get some vise grips and turn it - is their a special tool - or is it not very hard to turn. I did take a look at it earlier today.

I dl'ed the 90FSM - besides things relating to the engine - what else would be different?

My LR rotor has been scarred by the metal to metal contact from pad being worn down - How do I remove the rotor this - is it the cotter pin mechanism in the middle?

1) Can't help, sorry.

2) You can get a pair of needle nosed pliers and screw the piston in clockwise as you press (just turning it wont do anything). Nissan does make a specialty tool for this, but who wants to pay their asking price for it when you can do the same thing with pliers? If it is super hard to turn, make sure you have the cap of your fluid resivoir (and remove a small ammount with a teaspoon just so it doesnt spill on your nice clean engine paint).

3) To remove the rear brake rotor you need to completly remove the caliper and mounting bracket. There should be 2 14mm and 2 12mm bolts total, but they will likely be on there super tight. Make sure your parking brake is off. After that, the rotor should slide right off.

Yes but the box wrench at autozone / discount is only a few dollars.... Ive always dont it this way but last time I did the 240s rears (my gf's 92 this time) the piston was out too far to get the wrench in there to turn it and I had to bust out the 12" needle nose. I actually perfered it to some extent.

The box wrench does like to pop off just like the NN at times.

Oh and AFAIK all super hicas cars had ABS. Look for the ABS sensor in the caliper and the actuator in the engine bay to make sure. You may have an actuator but might not have the sensor if someone swapped out the calipers with cheaper non abs ones.

ya, I learned that turning thing the hard way. on my camaro a c-clamp did the job, but when I tried that on the 240 i broke the piston and had to get a new one installed/rear brake job....there's an extra $394 i coulda put towards a CA :-(
