No the original bulb won't work either. A couple months back it would go out and then cutt back on every now and then. Then about a month ago the right side went out and never came back on. When its not so damn cold im going to pull it back out and see if i can figure this s*** out. I used different bulb housings and still got nothing. figured it might have been a bad LED so i swapped with the side that worked and still got nothing!

kind of curious. i just read a post, guy said using white leds showed slightly blue in the cluster, thats what im going for so i ordered regular forward firing led bulbs not SMT, just curious about what it will look like, i figured the smt would be too bright. anybody got pics at night of non smt led bulbs? thanks qx4 if possible 2000

You bought something like these to put in your illumination bases? They will be way too dim I think. One of those LEDs (well, it was a red one, just had one left over, dunno if color would matter much though) couldn't even light my odometer evenly.

dont think those lights would be as effective as the matrix leds sold by autolumination.

Here's a bunch of decent pictures of my almost complete interior LED conversion:

Dashboard (every single bulb was replaced with an LED, even the warning lights; illumination LEDs are white, not blue):
Image Image Image Image Image Image
Map & dome lights (sorry for the crappy first picture):
Image Image
Window switch packs (don't have picture of the passenger side, sorry):
Image Image
A/C unit controls and crappy job with the defroster switch (I'd re-do that switch and put an LED the rear hazard switch if the damn switches weren't impossible to reassemble); I also made my clock always at maximum brightness since I usually drive with headlights on during the day and I'd prefer to be able to read the clock:

SMD tri-LED in all 4 illumination spots and odometer. These, specifically. "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" has a Red 74-XHP LED, while every other warning light has a normal 74-x LED of matching color (except O/D off, the gas warning light, and the (nonfunctional, since I'm in the US) washer fluid light).

Ok well in my qx4. The ashtray bulb is a 2721 size not a 74.

So in your shifter location you have a smd tri power?

The tri led are not overwhelmingly bright? I got the single smd and I am wondering if I should have got the tris

It appears nobody has a pic of single smd nor regular led

Shifter is a 5-LED 168 bulb, cool white.

Tri-leds are perfect in my opinion for the illumination, odometer, and manual A/C unit controls.

what is the correct size in led for the 2721 bulb all over it says 2721 same as 74 but this is not true i have verified this in my own vehicle attempting to place a 74 in the ashtray part results in it being too big.

It's just the pic. It's still significantly brighter than the stock bulb, but it's still readable and not blinding.

ok so i went with the tri smd sticks they work great look perfect no dead spots any other leds have dead spots

so check this those things are way smaller than normal 74 bulbs. i had to bend up the metal tabs in order to make them fit without falling out

and when i had the dimmer all the way up one of the bulbs flickered so i had to turn it down a hair. ever since i reduced the brightness it stopped blinking. stupid.

so i also put 4smd 194 in my parking lights and it looks bad a**. perfect match to my 6000k hids. 3 bucks off ebay.

i threw a blue wide angle 194 in the shifter and its looks perfect but is blue and matches nothing but whatever

also fyi the cheapy dash bulbs from ebay fit the gauge and the ashtray. i have figured out that they are slightly smaller than 74 and when they are advertised it says fits 74 and 2721 they are correct it does but its loose in 74s just an fyi to everyone out there cause nobody said it

i bought every variation of led light wide angle narrow angle, smd, multiple smd

simply to test out them all i spend a total of like 35 dollars to change every light out.

you cant just "change" it. Soldering is involved.

Check the fuses, and play around with the bulbs twisting them different ways, also put the stock ones back in if you dont get illumination,

This happened to me when i was adding the last odometer bulb ( i only put the 2 in for all the gauges and did'nt have a 3rd one so i needed to order it ). And i sat there at least 45 mins fiddling with it, just cause those small bulbs are a pain in the a**, but it takes some time and should work.

The dash lights should be the tail lamp fuse.

Try that

My shifter LED bulb started flickering. I replaced it with a WLED-CW6 bulb and it is even brighter now. Also put in a high power LED in the glove box (dunno whether the picture above is normal or HP). I will get pictures for you guys soon.

Also, not pictured is the fact that the SES light is always supplied with power - enough that it is dimly, but visibly lit at night (with either a normal or high power LED). Here is a terrible iPhone picture:

Image

Due to this, I will swap it out with a #74 incandescent bulb to avoid this annoyance. Since I always turn the car to the "ON" position before starting, I'll know if the bulb burns out again. I don't know where I'll stick the red high power #74 LED bulb now. I might see how it looks in one of the gauge illumination spots, odometer, or maybe the "low fuel" indicator (but honestly, if I need a blinding idiot light to tell me to get gas, I should not be driving!). I will also see how a normal and high power white #74 LED looks in the odometer position - I have found the 3xHP bulb to be a bit too bright for my liking lately. If it lights evenly and still provides easy readability, I'll throw up a picture of that too.
