Hello everyone, does anyone know if I can use a drive shaft with the center bearing from a 1994 Q45 on a 1992 Q45? I plan to swap the whole drive shaft. Any info is appreciated.

In the previous posts, there is a discussion of the design change early in the production run.

I believe all OEM replacements are all of the later design.

But don't do it unless it is very cheap as you may be buying someone else's problem.

I'm not sure when the change-over occured, but as long as you get the center carrier bracket from the 94, you'll be fine.

I've done this and it works. (90Q with 94' shaft) Dispose of the two thick washers used with the centerline bearing bracket of the old shaft.

are you referring to the bracket around the bearing that's held on by two size 14 bolts?

I'm having trouble trying to diconnect my driveshaft in order to drop the transmission. The four bolts at the rear directly in front of the rear axle is giving me some troulbe to break. any suggestions

I've never had much trouble with them. Maybe soak them overnight in WD-40 or PB Blaster?

it's best to have a nice size breaker bar (18" and above). If you don't have one of those, you can use your regular rachet but it'd be a little harder but it can be done. Try using a short socket rather a long one and have a wrench to lock the nuts in the back and prevent it from moving while you turn the bolts. They should break with some decent man power. You just have to have the right angle to be able to apply enough torque. Good luck!

Slide a section of pipe over your wrench handle = greater leverage. I keep a 1 foot piece of pipe in my tool kit just for those stubborn occasions.
