Catalytic Converter

Ok i have a 1993 nisan maxima se i had the auto repair shop put the converter on but when i step on the gas it sound like a ticking noise. someone said it might be the exhaust pipe backfiring if so how can it be fix, and how do you check it to see if that the problem

It sounds like you might have an exhaust manifold crack or a seal that is not seated properly. I would take it back to the place that fixed it. You should have a basic warranty for quality of work issues, like an exhaust leak.
