Can i get some input on this. i added a high flow air filter and stoped using premium gas when it went above $3.85 per gal. let me know some ideas please my tags are up and i can't pass emissions! i have a 2001 maxima auto trans with a 3.8l v6. totaly stock with the exciption of high flow air filter. help please

Means your pre-cat isn't scrubbing the exhaust properly. You'll need to replace it.

So what is my pre cat and what does it cost? Well i guess i can find that out for my self. Thanks for the info!

If your car is les that 8 years old with less than 80k on the clock the dealer will replace it for free. The government mandated that warranty.

A high flow low filtration air cleaner is not the best way to prove you are maintaining an engine to achieve longevity.The only way dirt and grit can get into and wear an engine [rings] is thru the non oem airfilter.

So you're saying that the OEM air filter doesn't let anything but air into the engine? I'd like to see where you got that little ditty from.
