Have you checked into VeilSide hoods?

The version 2 hood is pretty darn nice.

are you going for the carbon fiber look or just the weight reduction?is this a daily driver rain or shine?whats your over all goal to be achieved?pics of your car in current state?

here is an oem CF hood on a red Z

One thing you want to look for is the quality of the CF layout. If your going to paint it then it doesn't matter what it looks like... there for you can get the cheapest one you can find!

I have a red 2003 350z that i drive mostly on fair whether. I avoid driving it in the rain because of my cold air intake. But I'm trying to get a nice clean but aggressive look for the CF without over doing it. So far i looked at the TS and the VS v2 one. Here's a current picture of the car.

I was considering a CF hood as well for a different reason. I've seen a CF hood on another LeMans Sunset Z like mine and it looked very good. I'm tired of all the rock chips on my hood and was wondering if a CF hood would hide the chips better and if it would chip less. Any advice?

a CF hood is a completely different hood for your car. So the all the chips you have on ur hood rite now don't matter. and a plus for cf hood is that it weighs alot less

I've had a CF hood on my toyota for about 6 years now. No chips whatsoever! The only downside on a CF hood is that is vulnerable to the suns UV. It will fade and oxidize if not taken care of properly or prolonged exposure to the sun. Also, because of its lighter weight, turbulence at high speeds may cause the hood to vibrate (I never had one for the Z so i might be wrong), requiring the installation of some hood pins.

I understand it's a completely different hood. I plan on replacing my current painted hood with a CF hood if it's less likely to chip, which seems to be the case. If anyone has any other info on how a CF hood wears with time, please post.

Thanks. I'm guessing some UV polish might help with the discoloration? Know of any good, quality brands?
