Guys, I need help here. Back in the spring my car was stolen. At the time I didnt have my vac/wastegate lines hooked up completely, so my wastegate was running shut. It was fine to drive to the shop but it couldnt be beaten on. I drove it to the shop for a safety/inspection, where it got stolen. It was later recovered and seemed to be fine. After 10 minutes of driving, a big poof of white smoke came out of my valve cover and my engine turned off. Trying to re start it caused more smoke. At first I thought my turbo blew (i couldnt tell exactly where the smoke was coming from), so i replaced it. Same problems still persisted (white smoke etc). I came to the conclusion it was the head gasket. There was oil in my coolant lines, and compression gases were leaking into my coolant, causing my resovoir to bubble up and almost boil after i turned off the engine. I replaced the headgasket, after looking at the old one, i noticed 2 of the coolant holes in the gasket were much bigger than they were supposed to be, meaning those 2 parts of the gasket were blown, pretty bad too. I re machined the head at a reliable shop, no cracks, all seemed well. Replaced the gasket with an oem, copper sprayed one, and arp head studs. When I started her up for the first time, she ran like new. Cranked first time. After getting it home, it seemed every start up after that got worse and worse. Sometimes it took 4 or 5 cranks and a nudge on the gas peddle to get her going. Today I tried to start her for the first time in a week or two. 3 seperate times i tried to crank her, and no luck, i can't get it going. Im right about to check my battery with a volt meter and I'm thinking about doing a compression check aswell. But I need some help. If the head looked good at the shop, do you think my piston rings may have blown? The inside of my block looked good, no major scratchs or anything so im not sure whas wrong. Shes not running great after I did the headgasket either, she idled terrible and sputtered and bogged out and stalled sometimes.

I need some help as to what might be wrong. for now, back out to the garage.

may have a ugly vac leak.

also might have stuck injector.

maybe your ignitor is loose(seems to be a common issues these days)

you arent giving us much to work with.

pull some codes. could check your grounds. do some investagating and then report back.

Battery should read 13.8v, and 14.4 when engine running.

Sounds like a vaccuum leak though. Damn, we do repeat ourselves a lot around here.

I know I'm sorry. It seems like when I was writing this thread the story wasn't as unique as I thought.

Will check for vac leaks tomorrow (later today).

Super no0b comment possibly, but what do you mean by loose igniter?

Really appreciate the help guys, it helps big time.

ps, people who steal cars and take advantage of other peoples stuff can have there knee caps broken.

Car started ! Came down a couple small issues. Couple ground problems, getting power to the injectors, and the CAS plug was just a tinnny bit loose, since I didnt put the lock on the plug. Yay ! haha

thanks for the help tho guys.

ps, where can I get a plug to check my ECU? Since its a jdm car the plug isnt the standard ones they have here.

Read the FSM. It's listed out there how to check them without a code reader.
