I've done that, too. At 6' tall, I was surprised it worked so well. (Part of the night I curled up a bit, and the rest I put down the back seat and had my feet in the cargo area!)

The main problem I had was it was a warm, rainy night, so it got pretty stuffy as I couldn't crack the windows...

The Fit advertises this as a feature... Nissan accidently included it.

It doesn't hurt that the seats are stuffed with memory foam ;D.

My friend had a broken ankle, and we were carting her around for the day, so I did the same thing with the seats, and she sat in the back with her leg elevated, practically like a recliner. She was comfortable, Couldn't have done that in another car I don't think.

I vote Orlando, though. I had enough of Chicago-area weather when I was growing up!

That would be a great advertising campaign; "Nissan Versa; Can't afford to own one AND make your mortgage payments? Think again. The Versa is a virtual house on wheels! Imagine, you; the open road; Walmart parking lots; the Freedom of it all... Versa" the background music could be "Goin' Mobile" by "The Who" (http://www.lyricsdomain.com/20/the_who/goin_mobile.html)

If you guys do come to Orlando, I know some badass campgrounds around here, near Deland.

Blue Springs and Hontoon park are about 35-40 miles north of UCF proper.

Also, didn't the Sentra have an advertisement saying you could practically live out of it?

If they did it's one that would get quickly pulled -- there are too many people that do live that way.

Thanks for the heads-up!! I was just putting the back seats up last night after hauling some items and was thinking, "what a shame there's such a height difference between the hatch area and the back seats when they're folded down" - was even thinking of fill it with a foam bed (would probably need about 8-10 inches) for camping this summer, but yours is a much better solution!! Do the front, seat backs meet the back seat cushions, or the folded-down back -- seat backs? (I assume that you slept on the passenger side, as a taller person's head would hit the steering wheel!!)

The front seat back meets the back seat cushion nicely, so you get memory foam all the way, but just under 6' of length. When I laid down the back seat, I put my legs on the back of the seat back, and as long as I laid on my back it was fine, as my rear stayed on memory foam and my legs were on the carpeted seat back, raised up a couple of inches.

(And since you've got an SL, you can tilt the steering wheel up and even the driver's side isn't too bad!)

I have to disagree with you there. Nissan would be a leader in advertising to homeless people. We target advertisements to almost everyone; from women, to men, individual ethnicities, people with disabilities, and men who cannot maintain... ahem... "full mast." What we need are ads targeted to homeless men and women. With foreclosures on the rise, we're missing a growing population of people who will need things like inexpensive housemobiles and park bench security systems.

Another ad for Versa-As-Home campaign would be a photo of a Versa with a mailbox, window-sill planters, a welcome mat, and an LCD house number (that can be changed to any number using the on-board computer system that also doubles as an alarm clock).

I tried to sleep in my Frontier once on a camping trip... I woke up feeling like a 97 year old man.

I'll give it a thumbs up. On the drive down here (Florida) from California I picked up some comfortable sleep on the passenger side. I'm 6'1 1/2", though, so it wasn't quite long enough to stretch out.
