So recently, my Z started to noticeably shake, like it was stalling, while I accelerate from a dead stop in 1st gear. At first I thought maybe the car wasn't getting enough fuel/air, but even when I floor it, it still does it. Any ideas what it could be?

Thanks,
-Alex-

Trans mount, engine mount, diff mount? Where does it seem like it's coming from?

Or does it feel like a loss of power? Like something not running correctly?

It's really hard to tell, but it seems like it's coming from the transmission. What I do know for sure though is that it doesn't happen all the time. It starts to happen after a prolonged period of time driving.

Would about going down hill what does your car do?? Does it still shake and stuff or is it smooth.. Also would if your just rolling down hill or rolling in general what happens??

Also does it do it if your in neutral?? Do you notice the problem at certain speeds or rpm's???

Could have something to do with the balance of the drive shaft and or center bearing...
OR the things that Aaron said that could have something to do with it..

We really need more info if possible..

Well, as I mentioned before, it only does it when I'm going from a complete stop into first gear, almost like I'm not giving it enough gas (even though I am). When I go up or down hills everything is smooth. When I am in neutral, everything is fine, aside from the whirring/howling noise that a lot of Z's tend to have coming from the transmission. It's just that initial acceleration. Also, it doesn't do it all the time. It seems to do it after my car has been running for a while.

Have you done any recent maintenance? Try changing the fuel filter. Sounds like a fuel delivery problem but i may be wrong.

Sorry to leave you guys hanging. I haven't really had time to do anything, since I work all the time. :-\ The only maintenance that I've had recently was an oil change and a tire rotation, and now that I think about it, it started doing it after that. I got 90k service at 89K and my car now has 103k, so it shouldn't really be anything maintenance-wise, at least I hope not. It's not throwing up any codes. The problem seems to have subsided, even after a few mountain runs, but that still doesn't mean there's nothing wrong. I'll probably check it out on Thurs and get back to you guys.

Hello guys,

This thread is old, but maybe you guys can give any insight. I have the same problem. Just had my pressure plate changed. But after that, instead of making the transmission shift smooth, it's been vibrating. It only happens when shifting from a dead stop to first gear. On downhill dead stop and shifting to first gear is smooth. But on flat grounds or uphill, it's shaking heavily. Most especially when doing clutch control uphill. Higher gears and quick shifting doesn't seem to have a problem though.

What pressure plate? Who did the work? Was clutch adjusted? was the flywheel checked for spec?
